A moped? Sure, it’s no motorcycle, which is what destroyed the career of Duke star Jay Williams, or nearly killed Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, but how crazy do you have to be if you’re a wealthy professional athlete – or just anyone whose body is their primary source of income – to get on a moped?

Since riding a moped is prohibited under the uniform player contract, the Warriors could move to terminate Ellis’ deal, though such a move seems highly unlikely. A possible punishment for Ellis is a heavy fine or suspension. It’s also possible the Warriors will let Ellis off the hook completely, chalking the incident up to the youngster’s maturation process.

You know we love Ellis, but this was beyond foolish. We wish the kid a speedy recover, and we hope Don Nelson has the strongest headache medicine on the market for dealing without his best player for probably 6-8 weeks.
