Terrell Owens Continues to Blow Kisses at Keyshawn
ESPN, NFL October 1st. 2008, 10:45am
The Dallas Morning News got it all wrong – Terrell Owens isn’t upset with Tony Romo, he’s ticked off (again!) at ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson:
Regarding Keyshawn Johnson, whom Owens’ referred to as Sheshawn at least three times, he said: “[As the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft] he is the ultimate underachiever on that panel. I am the reason he is in the booth. Everybody is aware when I was brought to Dallas he was the one they let go to get me here.€
Well, then. Loved Keyshawn Johnson at USC, his early career with the Jets (until he oddly grew jealous of Wayne Chrebet and began ripping the guy), and in his prime, he was one of top receivers in the game. But Owens tells no lies: Cris Carter had a better career than Johnson, Keyshawn is a poor ESPN analyst, and he was bounced from Dallas in favor of Owens.
And no matter what your opinion is of Owens – selfish, petulant, we could go on because the list is longer than the women who want to bed Tebow – you have to admit it is quite impressive that both men are 35 and one is among the top receivers in the NFL and the other is trying to stir the pot each week on TV.
Dallas Cowboys’ Terrell Owens not upset with Romo, offense (Star-Telegram)

They’re both whiny assholes, they both FAIL.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:49 AM
1st?
October 1st, 2008 at 10:49 AM
dammit.
agreed. can’t stand either one but T.O.>Key
October 1st, 2008 at 10:50 AM
Keyshawn had three solid seasons in an 11-year career.
Owens is one of the greatest of all-time.
I think Owens is allowed to talk shit here.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:51 AM
at least meshawn has a ring.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Keyshawn has a ring TO is bitter. It just sucks that Sheshawn is a fucking Asshole.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:55 AM
I hate to admit it, but T.O. wins this win in almost every concievable way.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:55 AM
TO needs to shut up
October 1st, 2008 at 10:55 AM
At what dropping the ball? I’ve never seen so many drops from a great wide receiver. Not saying isn’t a great WR, just saying he drops a ton of passes each year
October 1st, 2008 at 10:56 AM
iLove… Me some me.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Hopefully with these two egomaniacs the sideshow will get even better as the week progresses and Owens’ incurable destructive nature will continue to resurface publicly.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Keyshawn Johnson = Ed McCaffery + 3 more years
October 1st, 2008 at 10:59 AM
No, at being a wide receiver.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:00 AM
“I’m going to work with T.O. and only T.O.€
October 1st, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Keyshawn Johnson = Ed McCaffery + 3 more years
Ed McCaffery was a badass who had his career cut short by a horrific knee injury. I wouldn’t consider that too much of an insult.
I don’t remember Keyshawn overdosing, getting alligator arms going over the middle or crying like a bitch after a playoff loss. Keyshawn should just tell TO to kiss that ring.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:04 AM
because the list is longer than the women who want to bed John Parker Wilson
/Women of the SEC only like QBs of undefeated teams
October 1st, 2008 at 11:08 AM
except for TO, who doesn’t fail.
huh? i vaguely remember a certain play in the playoffs in the GB vs. SF game where TO made a nice little catch that was kind of important while getting hammered by quite a few guys.
dude takes hits…he gets alligator arms a lot tho, but still, his production is pretty unmatched in history (only a few guys have comparable numbers…rice, moss, marvin harrison, a handufl of others).
October 1st, 2008 at 11:09 AM
because the list is longer than the women who want to bed Chris Nickson
/Women of the SEC only like QBs of undefeated teams
//gotta take advantage while it lasts
October 1st, 2008 at 11:09 AM
those women better hurry. i don’t think any sec team will go undefeated.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:09 AM
@spencer- i hope Andre Reed is in that handful of others
October 1st, 2008 at 11:12 AM
so, ocho cinco to the bucs? is this going to happen?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:12 AM
irish…probably is, reed had some stunning numbers.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:13 AM
So it wasn’t failing all the times TO has never won anything?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Also, isn’t the drafting of Dwayne Jarrett more responsible for Keyshawn being in the booth than TO since Keyshawn went to Carolina after Dallas?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Right, I don’t think Keyshawn has every cried like a bitch, ever.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:14 AM
He’s 10 times the player Keyshawn was but to act like he never fails is absurd.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Irvin had a lot more room to talk shit than Keyshawn. He was a dud.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Link?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Mike August, said after a playoff loss.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:16 AM
TO makes more big plays, Keyshawn was a better football player.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:16 AM
are you really going to use that as a basis for your argument?
if you had to pick WR’s, who would you pick: TO or randy moss who are the most unstoppable forces at their position since Jerry, or Lynn Swann who had a few nice plays, but was the frosting on the Steelers cake that won a bunch of super bowls.
there’s more parts than TO. can’t blame him for mcnabb choking in the SB or the botched long snap against the Giants when he was on the 49ers or not being able to stop the cowboys or tony romo having no balls when it matters or…
my point is that TO is an all-timer at his position. how can that warrant a FAIL?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:16 AM
TO makes more big plays, Keyshawn was a better football player.
Darrell bringing the funny.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:17 AM
Love generic cliches.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:18 AM
in what area? TO is as good a blocker, as good a possession WR and makes 1,000,000x more big plays…oh and actually SCORES POINTS (need i point you in the direction of Key’s 100+ catch/2 TD season that was more the norm than the exception).
October 1st, 2008 at 11:18 AM
botched long snap against the Giants when he was on the 49ers
No idea what this is, the Niners beat the Giants in the playoffs with TO.
Or maybe the Niners never would have needed that last minute catch against the Packers if TO hadn’t dropped six passes that game.
Or maybe his teams would win something if he wasn’t such a horrible, selfish teammate. I say he FAILS for that, not as a player.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:19 AM
after dropping about 4 passes during that same game.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:20 AM
They’re both ass clowns (who have the distinction of being thrown off of winning teams mid-season without breaking the law), but T.O. is the bigger one here, IMO.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:21 AM
Never saw Keyshawn make a block like TO on the Felix Jones run.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:21 AM
No one ever had to make a big deal on all of the football programs for a whole week about Keyshawn blocking downfield. It was routine for him.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:21 AM
cbh…good point, my mistake but…
worst argument ever. when are we going to stop coddling these players like they’re pee-wee players? they’re PAID FUCKING PROFESSIONALS, you don’t have to like the people you work with, but if you’re getting a check, you should be able to deal with it and move on.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:23 AM
Darrell quick on the draw with that one… nicely done.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:23 AM
Spencer the way things are and the way they should be are two different things. The Red Sox were sinking with Manny, I don’t think it is merely coincidence they started playing better after they traded him.
Football may be different but you have to admit TO had the most success on a team level when he kept his mouth shut, during that year with the Eagles.
I am just real salty with TO because I was defending the douche and then he made those stupid comments after the Redskins game.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:24 AM
too bad downfield for Key was 10 yards…you’ll never see him running stride for stride with felix jones.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:25 AM
oh and one more thing…you don’t have to use the “good blocking WR” description to say TO is good because TO actually produces unlike Key (and hines ward).
October 1st, 2008 at 11:25 AM
It’s not even an argument. If you want to hate TO then do it, but at least bring something to the table other than Keyshawn’s career to argue.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:27 AM
the red sox were sinking with a guy who was on an unreal hot streak?
that’s an example of them being little bitches. there have been HUNDREDS of teams who were terrible in the locker room together but highly successful on the field. a few exceptions like the sox being a bunch of whiny babies and the eagles making an excuse for their $100mil investment CHOKING LIKE MAD aren’t the norm.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Never saw Keyshawn make a block like TO on the Felix Jones run.
Bingo! TO gives 100% on the field and if it doesnt turn out the way he thinks it should he acts out off the field hes passionate about winning he did shit against GB but I didnt see him complaining. He balled against Washington and lost then he complained because he thought he could have won the game for them. Remember when he played in the Super Bowl with a not healed Broken Leg and was the reason it was even remeotley close, fuck Sheshawn hes a faggot.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:28 AM
those “couple of nice plays” enabled the steelers to beat the cowboys twice.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:28 AM
I’m no baseball expert but everything I have seen shows that Manny’s numbers went way up when he went to LA.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:29 AM
You don’t have to use the good blocking WR description for TO for the same reason you wouldn’t have to use the “keeps his mouth closed and never cries description of him.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:29 AM
worst argument ever. when are we going to stop coddling these players like they’re pee-wee players? they’re PAID FUCKING PROFESSIONALS, you don’t have to like the people you work with, but if you’re getting a check, you should be able to deal with it and move on.
When the players themselves stop doing it. See: Manny in Boston, TO in Philly, Pacman in Tennessee etc. As long their peers bitch about it and talk about placing importance on the team I think it’s fair game.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:29 AM
there have been HUNDREDS of teams who were terrible in the locker room together but highly successful on the field.
I assume hundreds is hyperbole but I would be interested to hear some examples.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:30 AM
Yeah, Key would never write a book about needing the ball or anything.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:31 AM
I would take Lynn Swann in a clutch situation over TO and Keyshawn; not even close. He can’t help the fact he played on a predominantly running team.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:31 AM
Am I the only one who finds the Chris Carter reference arbitrary? Can someone explain?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:32 AM
1986 mets, 1990’s cowboys, mid 90’s indians, any team with Michael Jordan on it…there’s a few.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:33 AM
oh give me a break…when did swann EVER make a catch like TO did against the packers?
and the fact that the Steelers were a running team only enhances my argument…it’s easy to get single coverage when the other team has 9 in the box.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:33 AM
So as long as there are crybabies, we should be okay with crybabies? Okay.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:34 AM
oh give me a break…when did swann EVER make a catch like TO did against the packers?
really?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:35 AM
Come on Spencer, you can’t count the Indians, I am talking about winning championships.
86 Mets I will give you, for the most part I believe the Cowboys teams got along fine, and with Jordan he may have been an ass but he had the respect of his teammates because they knew they needed him to win it all.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:35 AM
Key 1 Ring
TO 0
October 1st, 2008 at 11:36 AM
You may want to contact your local satellite or cable dealer in your area sometime around the Super Bowl and catch a few of Swann’s catches on ESPN Classic.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:38 AM
to can play. manny can hit. no suprises there. bad attitudes can sink an organization. whether it is sports or business. i don’t want to on my team b/c he is a front runner. whe n things go bad he is not a leader. he doesn’t mind calling people out but feels he should be respected at all times.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:40 AM
To say Hines doesn’t produce is ridiculous. 700+ career catches, 9000 career yards, etc., a Super Bowl MVP and arguably the best blocking WR in the history of the NFL. As soon as he clears 10000 yards, you can practically book his ticket to Canton (if not already).
October 1st, 2008 at 11:40 AM
you mean those awesome catches that he made to get first downs? stallworth made more big catches than swann.
and that catch in the playoffs to win the game was bigger than anything.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:42 AM
and that catch in the playoffs to win the game was bigger than anything
bigger than Dwight Clarks CATCH?
October 1st, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Roethlishotdog…i was being facetious.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:43 AM
irish…i’d say they were on the same level.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:43 AM
It’s tough to argue with such sound logic.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:44 AM
irish…i’d say they were on the same level.
Are you talking about the difficulty or how important they were?
Difficulty I agree, importance, Clark’s ended up propelling the Niners to a Super Bowl, TO’s propelled them to a Divisional Round loss against Atlanta.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:45 AM
Trent Dilfer 1 ring
Dan Marion 0
It’s science.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:45 AM
Who the hell is Dan Marion? Marino is who I was looking for.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Horry 7 rings

October 1st, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Part of the reason that catch is so “famous” is because TO dropped EVERYTHING during the first 3.5 quarters of the game. Everyone was shocked he actually managed to hang onto it.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Stallworth made more catches, Swann made more big catches, other than the Rams game.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:47 AM
CBH – I don’t think Dan Marion has a ring either, so it’s OK.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:49 AM
TO is going to the Hall of Fame and was drafted #89 in 96 draft. Keyshawn was drafted #1 and has zero shot at the Hall.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Brad Johnson 1 ring
Dan Marino 0
Rocket Science indeed
October 1st, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Can’t we get a gag order for both of them? God, I wish that was a legal possibility.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:51 AM
TO is usually at or near the top of the league in dropped passes year in and year out. It’s kind of surprising that he doesn’t get pummeled for that.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Trent Dilfer 1
Barry Sanders 0
Barry Sanders may have made more big plays, but Dilfer was a better football player.
/Darrell’d
October 1st, 2008 at 11:51 AM
I still think JJ Stokes deserves to be part of this debate.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:54 AM
Actually, I would like my gag order thing to extend to all wide recievers. They’re all morons.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:55 AM
Joe Jurevicius needs to shut the fuck up!
/Billy
October 1st, 2008 at 11:57 AM
He was actually who I had in mind the whole time. Weird.
October 1st, 2008 at 11:59 AM
TO is going to the Hall of Fame
He deserves to be there and I’d vote for him to go if I could, but there is no way I’d watch that induction ceremony… that’s TO in a nutshell.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:00 PM
I have a problem with the “Keyshawn is a horrible analyst” comment. He’s WAY more tolerable than Emmit, Boomer and Cris Carter.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Boomer needs to swallow a knife.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:04 PM
I agree Sportsgal I have no problem with keyshawn as an analyst. ESPN just needs to stop having him comment on receivers issues like this. It is pot/Kettle everytime. And Boomer is horrendous

TO = GOAT
/spencer096
//are you allowed to do that to yourself?
October 1st, 2008 at 12:10 PM
Dammit Spencer, even TO knows that Rice is GOAT.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:12 PM
These conversations become silly after about 25 comments. After a point it becomes a pissing contest instead of an honest debate.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to use statistics to prove that Derek Jeter is ghey.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:13 PM
My God, could you imagine TO at his HOF ceremony?
October 1st, 2008 at 12:16 PM
Wasnt there a pissing contest in the AM roundup? Yep
October 1st, 2008 at 12:16 PM
im looking forward to it…happy canton is a 35 minute drive away.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:18 PM
There are few people in the world as literal minded as you. Perhaps the last line of the comment would have indicated that I included myself in the group? No? Not at all? Hello?
October 1st, 2008 at 12:19 PM
TO = GOAT
Serioulsy Spence, you need to take this back lest the football gods smite you… their adoration for Jerry Rice is not to be tested.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:21 PM
come on…i thought the “/asdkl;fj;” thing would ensure that people knew i was joking.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Oh I know you’re joking, but deities can be pretty humorless.
I’m just lookin’ out for you buddy!
October 1st, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Uh oh, looks like I need to go read the AM Roundup comments!
October 1st, 2008 at 12:28 PM
August…joe thomas just called and said everything was cool with the gods. i should be in the clear, but thanks for the concern.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:41 PM
god i love the ring argument. trent dilfer is just so much better than marino.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Mole you know I was joking right?
October 1st, 2008 at 12:54 PM
Wow… how could anyone say T.O. is/was better than Rice? Not even Owens would go that far (maybe Randy Moss because he’s an ever bigger fucking idiot, though). Check the stats, and then also take into account that it’s easier to pass nowadays than during the 80’s and 90’s because of rule changes. Not. Even. Close.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:55 PM
Oops – missed the joking part. Nevermind. Although I mean what I said about Randy Moss.
October 1st, 2008 at 2:49 PM
damn it, I hate school. I come to the blog and I end up in the 100s. ANywho, Fuck Meshawn and his damn book. Actually, fuck Owens too-just because.
