Paragraphs About Football Games
NFL October 12th. 2008, 2:29pm
So, this Wildcat thing continues to work. Chad Pennington took a hand off in the newly infamous formation and threw the ball waaaay down field to a wide open Patrick Cobbs for the touchdown. It must not have been too awkward after they hooked up because they did it again.
Matt Ryan looks good for Atlanta. The Falcons have moved the ball quite well between the 20’s, but they’re currently locked in a field goal contest with the Bears.
Joe Flacco has thrown 2 picks and Peyton Manning has thrown 3 touchdowns – two of which were caught by MarHar. The Colts are up 24-0. I’m not sure the Ravens have the kind of offense that can play from behind.
Jason Hanson hit a 3-run home run to put the Lions on top of the Vikings. And you thought two points were all the Vikings needed!
I don’t think the coaching was the problem in Saint Louis…. I typed too soon! O.J. Atogwe took a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown to put the Rams up 10-7 at the half.
Halftime Viewing Recommendation: Van Wilder on Comedy Central. I’ll let you guys make the Kellen Winslow jokes.
Drew Brees is 17-19 with 196 yards at the half. JaMarcus Russell is a bit less impressive.
Jeff Garcia has the Bucs up 17-3 on the Panthers.
Watching the Jets-Bengals game, it was interesting watching Brett Favre throw 3 touchdown passes on 1 drive. The Jets are taking a 3-point lead to the half.

worth repeating
October 12th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
Good thing I played him. I’m about to go on a two game winning streak. Which, in that league anyways, is huge for me.
October 12th, 2008 at 2:52 PM
I’m convinced that the Houston Texans are collectively betting against themselves.
October 12th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
matthew berry isn’t smart. He gets paid to be worthless.
October 12th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
The Texans are the Notre Dame of pro football..
October 12th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
The saints scored again?? how?? and why in the fuck the Atl-Chi game is on TV and not the Saints. I live in texas, if Dallas isn’t on, the Saints fucking should be!!!!
October 12th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
We want John David Booty.
October 12th, 2008 at 2:59 PM
I’m chasing my Oakland loss with some losing hockey wagers.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Jason David caught a pick? It almost makes up for the many, many, MANY times I’ve seen him burned by the other team’s WR/ or daughter of said WR. But it happened against a college team, so it doesn’t count…
October 12th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
I love the Avs/Oilers under
October 12th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
Me too. Kings and Coyotes…not so much.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:05 PM
I don’t know if you’re a Coyotes fan at all, but do you know if either Kolarik or Porter made the team?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:07 PM
Not a fan, but it looks like Porter made the cut: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/pho/roster
October 12th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
the Redskins are struggling big-time. campbell just fumbled again, but disaster was averted. down 13-7, and now the rams have it at the Skins 40, i think.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:17 PM
what is up with the jets still using the throwbacks? those things are hideous
cbs here switched from the colts game to the jets. good call
baltimore = incredibly overrated
carolina = slightly less incredibly overrated
fuck it im taking a nap. its so hard to watch games your team isnt playing in and youre not gambling on. it seems there are more and more commercial breaks every week and there arent any good fliptos today
October 12th, 2008 at 3:20 PM
Nap is not a bad idea, Mole. This fucking Vikes/Lions game is terrible. Of course, there’s nothing on CBS because of it.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
i dont care that roddy white just scored, and im playing him in fantasy. i care that the bears are now down 19-10 and i have the falcons +3.
the atl falcons are 13 minutes from being 4-2. this comment officially means Ryan will throw two pick-sixes and Atlanta will lose by 4 or more.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
Fellas can we keep the conversation to former Michigan Wolverines who are now playing for the Coyotes? Thanks.
hawkeye, all I want to know is how close we are to Senator Al Franken?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:23 PM
franken is up by six in the latest rasmussen poll
October 12th, 2008 at 3:26 PM
I was about to say, too close. Franken is not an upgrade over Coleman.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:26 PM
adrian peterson with another fumble. damn
October 12th, 2008 at 3:27 PM
I don’t know if the Saints are this good, or Oakl… Ok, Oakland is this bad. I see that trade for DeAngelo Hall to go along with Nsomugha(sp?) has truly made the “best” CB tandem in the league. Brees is 26 for 30 with 3 TD passes and over 300 yards passing.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:27 PM
does anyone remember the name of the mid eighties cartoon about nfl mascots? i want to say it was called nfl huddles but cant find anything about it
October 12th, 2008 at 3:28 PM
Last week USC was 9. Georgia was 10.
USC beats up a banged up ASU team at home with an injured Rudy Carpenter. UGA kicked ASU’s ass on the road with a healthy Rudy Carpenter.
This week, USC moves up 5 to #4. UGA stays at 10.
Just when I thought the media finally gave up on its USC fetish….
October 12th, 2008 at 3:29 PM
Darren Sharper is going to get fined about a billion dollars for a helmet to helmet on Calvin Johnson.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:30 PM
i still think usc loses twice more. cal and omg watch this one notre dame are my picks.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:30 PM
don’t know if the Saints are this good, or Oakl… Ok, Oakland is this bad.
A little of both. If Little Bitch Gramatica makes his kicks, they’re 5-1 right now. Instead they’re 3-3 and now they go like a month on the road because the NFL fucked them with this Europe “home game.”
October 12th, 2008 at 3:32 PM
No, the media will NEVER give up on USC. The market is too big in LA. ESPN will resume it’s huge sluping of them once again( Is USC the best 1 loss team… of all time???), just in time for the trojans to lose to Nobody St. in November…
October 12th, 2008 at 3:33 PM
i cant believe theyre doing another europe game. the players association needs to grow a sack and tell the league to fuck off.
why are the raiders playing mcfadden? i dont wish ill will upon the kid but i hope his career is fucked by this turf toe thing. how many times has that seriously hindered someone because they cant really recover from it. their season is over, why not get the future of your offense healthy?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Adding two more to chase my losses:
Cards +5 -110 (3 units)
Cards/Boys Under 53 -110 (2 units)
October 12th, 2008 at 3:35 PM
Yeah. And which team has a “better” loss? USC (Oregon State) or UGA (Alabama)? I’m sure they can rationalize how USC can move up more than halfway through the top ten but Georgia has to stay put.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:36 PM
Wow, Brad Childress is so getting fired.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:37 PM
if uga wins the sec and there arent two undefeated teams they will get in over usc, theres no doubt about that. they need to worry about themselves, not usc.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:37 PM
In both games( Denver and Minn.), the other team had a lot of time on the clock to work with. I’ll say 4-2 just because the Vikes game made me feel… dirty. I just can’t for the life of me figure out why Deuce isn’t carring the ball more? I think Payton is keeping him on the sidelines just because I said he’ll be out for the season by week 4. Every time he touches the ball, it’s a 3-5 yard gain. Every time Reggie or Pierre runs, you’re lucky for 1 yard…
October 12th, 2008 at 3:38 PM
bulger sacrificed his body on a great run on 3rd down to get the first and got absolutely popped. too bad it was all for not. illegal formation.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:39 PM
brad childress better get fired. what an idiot.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:40 PM
what happened to minnesota that he should get fired?
other than having faith in jackson to start the season
October 12th, 2008 at 3:41 PM
Well they’re losing to the Lions.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:41 PM
It’s better the the “home game” in New York, against the Giants after Hurricane Katrina. How in the fuck you get a “home” game at the other teams’ Stadium?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
why didnt minnesota go for two on their touchdown?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:44 PM
chad pennington is who we thought he was
thanks tom jackson for calling him a franchise quarterback today
October 12th, 2008 at 3:45 PM
He’s a former OC from Philly. Minnesota paid a lot of money to improve it’s O-line, has a top-5 RB, and paid Berrian to stretch the field. Yet, their offense still sucks ass and looks very plain.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:45 PM
mole- Cause Brad Childress is an idiot and can’t do math.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:46 PM
dont get me wrong i think he should get fired but i was asking if there was a certain instance in this game that caused two people to say he should be fired
October 12th, 2008 at 3:46 PM
thomas jones, thank you very much
October 12th, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Not that anyone can see it now, but the Tom Cable Era in Oakland is up to a good start.
Oakland 3 – New Orleans 34.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:47 PM
He was following TMQ’s advice. “Take One Till the Fourth!”
October 12th, 2008 at 3:47 PM
How did Miami get the ball back, I thought Pennington just threw a pick?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:50 PM
Wouldn’t it make more sense to go for 2 everytime? The success rate is over 50% isn’t it?
October 12th, 2008 at 3:50 PM
set of close finishes:
Redskins down 6, now at the 3 yard line
Miami down 2, now in the red zone
minny down 1, 80 yards to go in 4 mins
October 12th, 2008 at 3:51 PM
TD Skins
October 12th, 2008 at 3:51 PM

October 12th, 2008 at 3:52 PM

October 12th, 2008 at 3:52 PM
ELAM missed a fucking chip shot!
missed a 33-yarder, and the bears are down 6. have the ball with 246 to go. orton to the rescue!!
October 12th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
Ryan Fitzpatrick is the Bengals leading rusher today. He’s also thrown for several yards, and he caught a pass from himself.
Quite a day for a terrible QB.
October 12th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
touchdown ronnie brown
October 12th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
TD dolphins! i have a big bet on the dophins over 5.5 wins … this will make them 3-2. i pray schaub has some sage in him …
October 12th, 2008 at 3:54 PM

October 12th, 2008 at 3:55 PM
tbl: pass was to allison
October 12th, 2008 at 3:56 PM
it’s also the vikings.

October 12th, 2008 at 3:58 PM

October 12th, 2008 at 4:04 PM

October 12th, 2008 at 4:04 PM
damn dolphins. damn you.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:05 PM
I have no idea how the Vikes did that. That’s two weeks in a row they’ve played like total dogshit and won.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Good game, it ;looked like neither team wanted to win. Luckly for the Texans, Schaub didn’t want to end up smelling like Rose(ensels).
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Elam misses 33 yard fg that would’ve put the game out of reach for ATL. Orton drives the Bears for game winning TD. Unreal.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Rosenfels even.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
falcons have 47 yarder to win it
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Oh yay, the Vikes won 12-10. That game fucking blew. At least I made enough to cover last night’s LSU/Florida debacle.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
The Rams are trying to blow this.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:07 PM
this guy incognitio is going to get blasted
he’s had an awful game for the rams
he just got a 15-yarder for jawing with officials. what a fool.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:07 PM
schaub runs it in.
and the dolphins suck again.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:07 PM
rams get unsportsmanlike when they are kneeling to try to kick game winning fg. Now theyre backed up to the 32
October 12th, 2008 at 4:07 PM
wow my stream is behind
October 12th, 2008 at 4:08 PM
holy shit matt ryan has the falcons at the bears 30 yard line they can win this!
that would be a sick comeback
October 12th, 2008 at 4:08 PM
Some ALCOA fantastic finished going on here. Hard to keep up.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:08 PM
49 yard FG attempt for the rams win …
got it!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2008 at 4:08 PM
God I hope Haslett blows it.
/still haven’t forgiven him for not benching an injured Aaron Brooks for some nobody named Jake Delhomme in 2003
October 12th, 2008 at 4:09 PM
elam for the win, good
October 12th, 2008 at 4:09 PM
Elam from 48, one sec left. it’s good!
October 12th, 2008 at 4:09 PM
Falcons 47 yard FG to beat the bears …
got it!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2008 at 4:09 PM
Not to go “fantasy nerd” but:
I benched Jason Elam this week.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:10 PM
how good were those finishes! in the span of about 5 mins, you had a TD with 3 seconds left, a FG with 2 secs left, another FG at the buzzer, and the vikings FG with no time left.
great, great finishes
October 12th, 2008 at 4:10 PM
Can we get another game won on a last second FG, please? Haven’t been enough of those this weel
October 12th, 2008 at 4:10 PM
Vikes are tied for first. Wow.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:10 PM
*week
October 12th, 2008 at 4:11 PM
God I hope Haslett blows it.
/still haven’t forgiven him for not benching an injured Aaron Brooks for some nobody named Jake Delhomme in 2003
I’m still not over him benching Jeff Blake for Brooks.
/bigger Saints fan..
October 12th, 2008 at 4:11 PM
What the hell was Lovie doing with a squib kick? You can’t give up that kind of field position unless you know time is going to run out or they will only have time for one play…
October 12th, 2008 at 4:12 PM
Has the gap in Strahan’s teeth gotten bigger?
October 12th, 2008 at 4:12 PM
Damn good endings, TBL. Kept me from taking my old man sunday nap. I sleep now.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:13 PM
i would not be shocked if the panthers finish 7-9
wins against atlanta, detroit, oakland
losses to saints, cards, packers, bucs, bronces, giants, saints again
October 12th, 2008 at 4:26 PM
AZ runs the opening kick back against Dallas!
I have $ on the Cards, pray for me, people
October 12th, 2008 at 4:30 PM
I’m so FUCKING sick and tired of getting the Cowboys every week. I’ve gotten every one of their games this year over the air or on ESPN, and I don’t even live in Texas. And most of the time I haven’t had an alternate game on the other channel because they’re usually the back end of a doubleheader.
Memo to TV executives: Just because the Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees, Red Sox, etc are the most popular teams out there, it doesn’t mean that we want to see them EVERY SINGLE GODDAMNED WEEK.
Give somebody else a chance to get in the media hype mix.
October 12th, 2008 at 5:52 PM
TBL said…too bad it was all for not. I slip into my Spelling Nazi uni and point out that naught is not spelled not.
