Two-a-Days: New Orleans Hornets
NBA October 17th. 2008, 4:15pm
Last season the Hornets were within a win of advancing to the Western Conference Finals, but they couldn’t close out the cagey Spurs. This season, perenial-MVP candidate Chris Paul will try to take the still young Hornets a step further.
The core of the 07-08 team is returning as Tyson Chandler, David West, Julian Wright, Peja Stojakovic and Morris Peterson are back. Janero Pargo is gone and the most important player in the NBA, James Posey signed with NO as a free agent. Devin Brown has also been signed to replace Pargo off the bench.
Of course, why even talk about anyone else? New Orleans is home to The CP3 Show. (With regular appearances by Chandler as “The Oop.”) There’s no getting around it – the guy is sick. His scoring and assists have gone up all three years he’s played in the league. He averaged 21 points and 11 assists in the regular season last year and only got better in the Playoffs, putting up 24 and 11. Chris Paul also loves to bowl. The kid can do no wrong.
The Hornets should again be near the top of a crowded Western Conference. Was last year’s playoff run enough of an experience builder or will they again hit the wall that many Championship teams face for multiple years before finally winning a title? The Hornets should win anywhere from 55-65 games, be a top-4 seed out West and run deep into the Playoffs. How deep is the only question.

how is CP3 a perennial MVP candidate? wasn’t last season the first season he was a candidate? yes, he will likely be one, but let’s not put the cart before the horse.

I didn’t know how to word “Soon-to-be-perennial” “futurely-perennial” “inevitably-perennial”
He’s good

But he’s no Pargo.

I think a one-liner saying “New Orleans Hornets – discuss” would have offered more meaningful analysis.
Although you did name some of their players. I liked that part the best.

cant anything be serious on this fucking site while I’m on my period?
Yes, but pre-season predictions about anything should never be taken seriously by anyone.

I know, I had to find the address of NBA.com and everything. Next week, I’ll give you a run down of Melvin Ely’s strengths and weaknesses.

This team has what it takes to get far in the playoffs. Last season was great experience for the Hornets. They are stacked. Chris Paul is a top two point guard. The Hornets win 56 games, get the second seed. They’ll get to the Western Conference Finals.

Simmer down? you think i forgot about the time you called me a limey fuck? yeah buddy
October 17th, 2008 at 4:51 PM
Isn’t limey a reference to the English not Irish? Did somebody get their racial slurs mixed up?
October 17th, 2008 at 5:02 PM
Calling an Irishman an Englishman is more devastating than pissing in his whiskey, or spelling it without the “e”.

CP3 is better than Kobe.
At least if you’re concerned with production.

It took 10000000 posts, but I finally agree with NickP. ‘Course I’m a homer…
