Piston – that’s not really the issue. the issue is that the public reacted one way to a Hitler remark … and then another way to another media member who made a hitler remark.

and then, of course, ESPN’s inconsistent stance on the issue, which is laughable.

Talk about a tempest in a teapot. It was a throwaway remark meant to make a point. A leader is supposed to motivate and encourage his supporters, leading them in a common direction. Based on that definition, Hitler was a great leader. A great EVIL leader, yes, but a great leader nonetheless.

My question is, if I shouldn’t make Hitler references, what historical figures can I use? Are Attila the Hun references bad? How about Stalin? Mussolini … he made the trains run on time … is he OK? Jimmy Carter? Henry the VIII? Which ones?

Holtz can get away with it because he is more popular than Jemele Hill. And he’s old enough to have went to school with Adolf. Besides, who here hasn’t compared a Big 10 football game to the holocaust?

Isn’t this the second time in a week that Lou Holtz has done some extra bad on live TV and had to apologize?

It was Hitler last FRiday. A week ago he was bitching at Rece Davis about Colt McCoy. The cameras were still rolling and Holtz dropped “hell” and “damn” a few times. He apologized the next day.

I understand the random slip up, but c’mon, this guy needs to be disciplined.

I think his Pep talks were.. and his Dr. Lou segments are.. entertaining segments. It’s different, which is hard to get these days on TV. I have no problem how the man talks, seems like an easy excuse for crticism though. He’s nowhere near as senile as you guys are making him out to be. You’ll have to trust me on that..

ESPN has managed to turn me off of its coverage of college football, courtesy of the derived tension between May and Holtz. Neither one is fit for the studio.

May is inept at his job, which is to discuss college football in an expert fashion based on factual information, usually gained during the week prior by talking to coaches and players and other notable experts. May does none of that.

Holtz is worse because he should be able to talk about football on his achievements alone. However, his senility (and lithp) takes away any credibility he once had. The Hitler comment is just one of many this year that proves he has no business on live television of any sort.
