Memories: Getting Ready for Florida-Georgia
College Football, Video October 27th. 2008, 1:15pmBut does last year’s “Celebration” top the flea-flicker Spurrier called in 1995 with five minutes left in the game when the Gators were ahead 45-17? Ordinarily, this is where we’d get giddy for trash talk … but Urban Meyer’s put a gag order on his Gators.

florida wins by three scores.

nice piece about the Richt family on the Sat morn gameday

meyer’s been on a crusade to beat georgia since last year’s game. i honestly think he’d trade a bcs bid to beat georgia this year.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Why Spencer? I think FLA wins the game as well but I don’t think they blow out UGA…they don’t have the o-line/d-line to do so. I like FLA 38-31…sadly. Also, I think Meyer should put a gag order on himself…that guy loves him some him.

Gods…because meyer is an all-encompassing, total, 100%, grade A cockwallet and will be throwing the kitchen sink at UGA until the clock runs out.
i just think florida is clicking right now on offense…and i don’t think there’s a defense in college football capable of slowing that down. pair that with urban getting played last year and you know he’s going to try and make a statement.

What killed me about the celebration was how close Moreno was to NOT being in. What if they ended up reviewing the play and deciding it wasn’t a TD, then UGA gets 30 yards in penalties you end up with a 48 yard FG instead of being able to go for it on 4th down from inside the 1?
Regardless, GO DAWGS!
October 27th, 2008 at 1:34 PM
LOL!

FLA is the best team in the country. Maybe they don’t win by three scores, but I could see two.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:36 PM
I love watching that clip…gets me jacked up every time I see it.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:37 PM
So…if Florida does score the first TD in this game, will there be some sort of retaliation?
October 27th, 2008 at 1:37 PM
spence, WTF is a cockwallet?
October 27th, 2008 at 1:38 PM
I think people need to realize that UGA will be jacked up for this game as well. Florida has beaten them for most of the last decade and UGA cannot stand them. this should be one hell of a game.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:39 PM
same thing as a bonerholster.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:40 PM
I could care less about either team, but I hope Florida shits on them.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:40 PM
Should I be looking these words up in a dictionary?
October 27th, 2008 at 1:41 PM
Florida has shut down some pretty good backs this year (68 yards is the most any player has rushed against them), so Stafford is going to have to have a big game. That wouldn’t make me feel comfortable if I’m a Georgia fan.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:41 PM
@Gods: I live and work in Atlanta. None of my office friends are out-of-closet gator fans (a couple Tech dorks, but mostly UGA grads). We’ve been talking about this game for the last 2 weeks.
It must have been a tough decision for GameDay to decide between the Big 12 and the SEC, but when in doubt, go for the #1 team I guess. Also, GameDay has been to mostly SEC games this year, so they had to show some semblance of non-bias
October 27th, 2008 at 1:43 PM
deceiving…florida’s secondary can’t stop shit and teams aren’t going to run when they’re down 3 scores after 8 minutes.
florida has no DT worth a shit…good teams should be able to run all over them.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:45 PM
don’t forget who televises the georgia-florida game as opposed to who televises the texas-texas tech game.
(hint: think mouse.)
October 27th, 2008 at 1:46 PM
Yeah, I don’t blame them for going to the Texas game (though 3 out of the last 4 have involved Texas). This game is going to be badass…so much at stake and so much hate for each team. I just hope UGA can contain the speedy backs of Florida. If Florida cannot run the ball they are in trouble. I am not sold that they can run on UGA…only time will tell though.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:46 PM
They had to think long and hard about going to the game with two undefeated teams or the game with teams who have both lost at home.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:47 PM
Charles Scott, 35 yards on 12 carries.
You’re stuck in last year, but hey, that means Ohio St.’s doing well. Florida is sixth in least passing yards allowed and have only given up 5 passing TD’s all year while they have 10 INT’s. They’re defense is vastly underrated this year.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:49 PM
I also think that, when given a reason, GameDay likes to go places where they’ve never been before.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:53 PM
eh, they looked like garbage against Ole Miss, and i wasn’t impressed with them against LSU, who has a gaping hole at QB, though the charles scott thing was a good point. they also haven’t played anyone decent outside of those two teams that has an offense worth a shit.
no need for the OSU dig…let me lick my wounds.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:53 PM
Alright my comment was just torn apart… Don’t forget UGA vs. UF is a storied rivalry, and the Cocktail Party is a huge deal. I am going with jimmy on that one, though. I forgot who was broadcasting the UT-TT game.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:55 PM
Did anyone see the sign on GD on Saturday that said something to the effect of, “If you like pooin in your pants, then vote JoePa!”
October 27th, 2008 at 1:56 PM
They still held Ole Miss to 50 yards under their season average. The problem in that game wasn’t their defense. It was the 4 or 5 turnovers they had that consistently gave Ole Miss chances to score in good field position.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:58 PM
I could care less if gameday is there or not…hell, last time gameday was at a UGA game the Dawgs forgot to show up until after the first half anyway. This game will be badass and I think the winner (specifically if FLA is the winner) has a VERY strong shot at getting into the title game should they win out.
October 27th, 2008 at 2:02 PM
I agree with that statement, Gods. But I don’t understand how FLA is in a better spot if they win as opposed to UGA? FLA lost to Ole Miss, who sucks. UGA lost to Alabama, who hasn’t lost. Other than that, they’ve had pretty much the same season.
October 27th, 2008 at 2:08 PM
I feel that way because I get the sense that the media has a thing for Meyer, tebow and florida. I think the hype would get pretty high and should Florida, should they run the table, would have the media behind them. I don’t know why I get that feeling but I do. For example, Arizona loses to USC 17-10. Georiga beats South Carolina 14-7. When USC wins, it is because they have a nasty defense…when UGA wins the narrative becomes, “what is wrong with UGA’s offense.”

Great analysis/analogy, Gods. I never thought of that.
October 27th, 2008 at 2:52 PM
I think Florida needs a loss to get into the title game, unless strength of schedule counts for a lot more than I think it does. And while I do get that a one-point loss at home to a team that will be playing in Shreveport in December isn’t a good one, how does Georgia’s paws-up performance, a double-digit loss that could have been a twenty-point loss, at home, look that much better?
If Georgia wins out, I think they just knock the SEC out of the national title picture altogether; if Florida does, they have a better shot at getting a shot at Texas.
October 27th, 2008 at 3:11 PM
I would agree with this if UGa would not have to beat Bama, the team that beat them, in the conf. title game. Look, UGA played as bad as they could for a half and then outscored Bama 31-10 in the second. If they were to meet up again the game would be much different in my opinion.
October 27th, 2008 at 3:30 PM
UGA needs some serious help, and needs to win their remaining games to have a shot. What is interesting is that Florida (according to the “experts”) has the best chance of the one loss teams. I guess what I don’t understand is if UGA were to beat Florida, how they wouldn’t be the best option of the one loss teams?
