Uh, the Spurs Are 0-3.
NBA November 5th. 2008, 4:30pm
The NBA season became one week old last night, and one of the league’s best teams for the last decade, the San Antonio Spurs, fell to 0-3 for the first time in franchise history. They are without their whirling dervish of a guard, Manu Ginobili, who is sidelined until December following ankle surgery. There are 79 games left in the season. We proabbly wouldn’t have bothered do a post on this if not for the fact that on Monday, the Mavs were walloped at 19 at home by the Cavaliers.
Nobody’s saying the Spurs are dead, or the run is over; but it might be worth taking a peek at what the remainder of the month might look like with Duncan and Parker as the team’s lone offensive options (Roger Mason has shot well so far, but it’s too early for them to rely on a newbie): Luckily, the schedule is favorable. Of the 14 games left this month, only four of those are against teams that made last year’s postseason (Houston twice, Utah and Denver). So clearly, the end is not nigh. Except maybe for Bruce Bowen.

The more Manu’s bald spot spreads, the more vulnerable the Spurs will get.

“for the first time in franchise history”
Actually, it’s the first time since they joined the NBA. They started 0-3 in 1973, so franchise history ain’t correct.

The clear problem with the Spurs is that they aren’t in mid-season flopping and whining form. Once they get that straightened out, everything will be fine.

Losing your first NFL game is the equivalent of losing your first 6 NBA games. So lets not bury the Stearns yet.

election opinion….change change change…sometimes change inst always the best i mean if you are successful you have to pay more so lazy people can stay lazy…sounds fair to me. i just hope he doesnt cut pay and funding from the military and force retirement on guys in the military who have only a few years from retiring with full benefits.you know kinda like clinton did. but either way i can see why people voted for him he is a awesome speaker. and im sorry but palin in 2012 isnt gonna go anywhere…she will be hosting he own talkshow in about a year. if obama would have pickes hilary as his running mate we would have never heard of palin.

I don’t doubt Mike_NYC’s persistence. And if by “fun” you mean “make me occasionally wish harm upon him”, than yeah… I’m with you.
Mike, kidding on the harm, of course.

You don’t count the ABA????????????????????????
ABA was classic, pushed the NBA out of the dark ages.
Man, you need to read Loose Balls. Best book about professional basketball ever.
Another good read about the ABA here:
