Brazen Theft of Hockey Memorabilia
1-liner, NHL November 13th. 2008, 1:30pmHockey Theft: “The search is on for a pair on Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup rings that were stolen during a break-in at a mansion belonging to the Bronfmans, one of Canada’s wealthiest families. More than $1 million in jewelry was taken during Saturday’s theft, including the two championship rings dating back to the 1970s, when brothers Peter and Edward Bronfman owned the storied NHL team. One ring commemorates the team’s 1973-74 Stanley Cup victory, while the other is from the 1975-76 championship.” The thieves carried out a 200-pound safe (this one?). There’s no excuse for that sucker not being nailed into the cement in the basement. None. (C News via Fark)

Dude, sounds like that Clint Eastwood movie where he breaks in and sees the VP strangle that hooker.

Nore is there any reason why that house wasn’t built around that safe so you couldn’t physically take it out.

It’s Canada; what good is an alarm if the authorities are 5 hours away , probably drunk and definitely on horseback?

if you owned a 200 lb safe would you be concerned someone was going to just pick it up and leave with it? of course not.

Anybody that has ever owned the Canadiens deserves far worse. They got off easy.
