Yesterday, the Eagles and Bengals battled to the first tie in the NFL since 2002. In the post-game press conference, Donovan McNabb confessed that he didn’t know there were ties in the NFL. (Video after the jump)

Today a lot of people are going to be asking questions about why he wouldn’t know a rule that seemingly the most casual fan would be aware of. This is a fair question, but I think we need to delve a little deeper. Stop for a moment and consider the fact that McNabb has been in the league since 1999. In that time he’s quarterbacked a team to the Super Bowl and been to the playoffs numerous times. Just last season the Eagles finished with an 8-8 record and just missed the playoffs.

With that in mind, I have to believe that at some point in his 10-year career he’s glanced at the standings. Perhaps he wanted to see if his team had a shot at a first round bye or figure out how many teams were vying for the wild card. So if we are to believe he’s looked at official NFL standings, he would have seen that column filled with zeros with the T on top. That T column is in every major newspaper. It’s on the official NFL website. If you’ve seen real standings, you’ve seen that T.

Didn’t he ever wonder what the T stood for?

Does he not understand the game Win, Lose, or Draw?

Is he curious what that long piece of fabric is that’s hanging from Tom Brady’s neck?

Is he confused when Andy Reid talks about his kids?

Does he know what his mom is serving him?
