Kevin Costner and NASCAR Together as One
Movies, Music, NASCAR December 10th. 2008, 2:45pm
“The Academy Award-winning actor and NASCAR are partnering up for a year-long deal that will include an appearance by Costner at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards banquet on Dec. 5; the narration of “The Ride of Their Lives,” the newest NASCAR film; and the premiere of Modern West’s new video, “Backyard,” on NASCAR.com on Monday, Dec. 8″ (E!)
No clue what to make of this. Putting aside the fact that he’s a Capricorn, and that he’s a Delta Chi, how has Kevin Costner dominated the baseball movies for the last 20 years? Wesley Snipes we can understand, but Costner? Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and For the Love of the Game were all quality flicks – the first two, moreso – but they would have been just as solid with … Don Johnson? Or our main man Jerry O’Connell?

Good – now I won’t have to worry about ignoring both of them separately next year.

if there was ever a post deserving of one-liner status, it’s this one.

So what’s the plot? Does Coster have to decide who wins the Chase for the Championship by picking which driver’s number to tattoo on his ass?

Bull Durham may be the best movie ever
December 10th, 2008 at 3:26 PM

What the hell’s wrong with being a Capricorn. The goat is where it’s at. We can even catch passes after long days of having the shit kicked out of us.
/Adam Sandler’d, circa 1996
But seriously, this post is pointless.

Kevin Costner’s movie run of No Way Out, The Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams may be the best of any actor. You could even throw in Dances with Wolves if you want after Field of Dreams.

Those sports flicks likely wouldn’t have been as good without Costner. There is nothing I hate more in a sports flick than when the athlete really doesn’t look like he has ever attempted to play the sport (i.e. The Rookie).

Maybe it’s just me, but I think Pacino’s Godfather, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Godfather II is just a tad more impressive.

OK – Here’s something a little more interesting.

Couldn’t agree more, with the exception of the “any actor” part, though Costner is my favorite.
