Helter Skelter: Tennessee vs. Marquette
College Basketball December 16th. 2008, 6:15pmRemember two years ago when little Dominic James erupted for 25 points as an unheralded sophomore and Marquette beat Duke? Seems like forever ago. James was pegged for greatness from that performance – reminds us of the JaMarcus Russell bowl game against Notre Dame – but his game hasn’t really improved. Since he’s on our fantasy hoops team, we’re monitoring all of his developments, and he’s already tailoring his game for the NBA – shots, scoring and turnovers are down, assists up. The next Jameer Nelson, perhaps?
We’ll be watching tonight when he takes on an angry Tennessee team that just got spanked on the road against Temple. Marquette and Tennessee like to run, so expect plenty of run and jump.

Hey, JaMarcus has still won more games since then than Brady Quinn. In fact, if Quinn didn’t face a pathetic Bills team a month ago, Quinn wouldn’t have any.
Okay, that’s all I got.
Actually, some friends and I have started comparing JaMarcus to Archie Manning in his first few years. He looks bad, but it’s really hard to tell how bad he really is because the team around him is such a disaster.

Nique James yet another Indiana kid who went out of State. This is Why I f-ing hate IU basketball… and I went to IU… James, Courtney Lee, George Hill (w/SPurs now) Sean May(was awesome in college) Tyler Zeller (UNC), Jeff Teague(Wake) Oden, Connely…
It’s really absurd. Here’s hoping that Crean get start to get the in-state players. Painter has done well @ Purdue with the in state talent. I actually like Purdue more b/c they are more of an Indiana team than IU has been in the last 5 years

George Hill didn’t go out of state. I don’t understand how he didn’t go to IU though. DIdn’t they recruit him?
December 16th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
well, with Hill I meant not going to IU, which used to be a lock for all in-state talent. I mean, it’s a beautiful campus, hot chicks, always on National TV. That’s how bad the coaches were there.

Archie sucked. Sucked ass. “Oohhh, his team was bad, it wasn’t his fault”. Fuck that, he made the team worse. He only had two seasons where he had more TD’s than picks and three seasons total out of 12-13 that could be considered average.

What a fantastic commercial. And it sounds like we have some bitter Saints fans in here. Did Terry Bradshaw make the team worse? He only had like four more TD’s than picks for his career yet he’s a hall of famer who played during the same era. Same story with Joe Namath.

DJ can jump out of the gym. i’ve seen him put back some misses on free throws that make big men feel like pussies. not a great skilled player, but his ups are amazing.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Namath was overrated. He was made for TV at the time with his personality, and the SB made him a legend. At least he had a 4,000 passing season. Bradshaw had more good seasons than bad. Archie sucked. Put Archie on the Jets or the Steelers, and they would suck too. He’s David Carr of the 1970’s.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Oh, I disagree. When they put Chuck Muncie, Tony Galbreath, Wes Chandler, etc. around him, he was a Pro Bowler. I remember the Saints before the Hank Stram/Dick Nolan years. They made the modern-day Lions look like they were run like the Patriots.

Makblunt
- Outside of 1978 and 1980, he was certainly a below average pro QB. Who knows how good he could’ve been if he hadn’t taken 40 sacks a season. Same story for David Carr. Bradshaw is overrated as shit, though, and because of his inflated status we have to listen to him stumble through highlights each Sunday. At least Howie Long was awesome, along with Strahan and Jimmy Johnson, one of the only coaches to own both college and the pros.
Bradshaw? He was bald and played on a team full of all pros before the salary cap/free agency. He can suck my dick from the back.
/Too harsh, but who cares?

damn. Broussard on ESPN just now said the Rockets are open to trading T-Mac. geez.

Man, I’m telling you, if you want to find out about the worst-run franchise in the history of sports, read about the John Mecom years in New Orleans. They were the Washington Senators, pre-2008 Tampa Bay Rays, the Lions, and Duke football all rolled up into one. Archie had no shot.
December 16th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
you forgot about the Clips in the early 80’s and the Cardinals for the last 60 years. Yes, being the first team to lose to the Bucs sucks pretty bad. Also it kinda sucks that every time a NFL team has a bad year, the 1-15 Saints are brought up, but.. ummmm…. at least we’re not the Cards.

Makblunt, I feel you, but none of those other owners hired an astronaut to run the team.

Touche’. Look, the only way I can stay (sorta)sane being a Saints fan is knowing some fans had it just as bad as us. For example, the Lions make me smile this year. If we lose to said Lions, I don’t know how to handle that….

Damn. I love me some Office, but I haven’t bothered to turn the tv on tonight and reruns during primetime aren’t my thing. Bowl Season starts on Saturday. I always call most bowl bames meaningless, but hell, I’d be watching one right now if it were on (assuming there wasn’t college hoops on).

That Tennessee game had some of the worst officiating I’ve ever seen. Hey look who was working it, Tim Higgins! Shocker.
