I thought Sczerbiak’s contract would be used for some major piece. But losing Varejao would leave them just Big Z and Big Ben and Matrix for the interior positions.
That’s very thin for a team looking to run through the East — particularly as they’d have to face Boston once again.

And they way DeRozan and Mullens have looked so far, it may not be that bad a pick.

I’m not saying it’s the worst trade to do. And I’d use the Wally contract to get a major piece, no doubt. BUT Matrix needs the ball. A LOT. It’s part of why he’s in Miami and not in Phoenix.
