Why Pro Sports Need Newspapers, by Mark Cuban
1-liner, Mark Cuban, Media Gossip/Musings December 27th. 2008, 3:00pmPro Sports and Newspapers: “My suggestion to the powers that be in the leagues I have spoken to is to have the leagues work together and create a “beatwriter co-operative.” We need to create a company that funds, depending on the size of the market and number of teams, 2 or more writers per market, to cover our teams in depth. The writers would cover multiple teams and multiple sports. They will report to the newspapers where the articles will be placed, who will have complete editorial control. In exchange, the newspapers will provide a minimum of a full page on a daily basis in season, and some lesser amount out of season.” Is Cubes cracking up? Discuss. (Blog Maverick)

I care about what Mark Cuban thinks only slightly more than what Terrell Owens thinks.

Jim Caple wrote this. I laughed pretty hard at it. Your poor newspaper peoples column was funny too. Maybe we’ll go back to the time when athlete’s personal lives weren’t our business.

If they are hiring, I’m for it and have my resume available.

understand where Cuban is coming from and can see some poor performing papers in smaller cities jumping on this. they get content that their readers want and don’t have to pay the writers. not a fan of it, but can see where it would work
