An Injured Groin and Norv Calling Plays? Colts. Huge.
NFL January 3rd. 2009, 7:45pm
Now that the JV game is over, we get the league MVP and the hottest team (Colts) against a team coached by Norv Turner. We’ll regret the Chargers pick when Norv makes the first of what will surely be a night of terrible decisions. LT’s groin is supposed to be in tatters, and the mere mention of the injury is enough to make one vomit. Can the Chargers make us 2-0 today? Of course not.

Well, at least this way your ass is covered no matter what happens, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:46 PM
i predict the cards are 10 or more point dogs against the Giants or Panthers. i think AZ would have a chance of making it a game against Carolina … no shot in the cold weather of NY.
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:48 PM
BS – No covering. Solidly behind the SD pick, but i know it won’t hit. It’s Peyton Manning!
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:57 PM
And UW opens up Pac-10 play by destroying their in state rival 68-48 on the road. Cannot ask for more.
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:58 PM
Did somebody on the set moan out loud after KO and DP had to read that embarrassing ad for that sobe/dreamworks crap?
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:59 PM
that UW/WSU game got real ugly late. i don’t know if it says more for UW or WSU.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:01 PM
sounded like it to me, Quizz. Wonder if we’ll see it again during halftime. I really hope not
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:02 PM
The things I liked seeing from UW were the defensive intensity and making free throws down the stretch, two things that have been missing the past couple of years.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:03 PM
it looked like KO was embarrassed to be reading that. i hate KO but don’t blame him one bit. that was shameless.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:06 PM
Man, I really tweaked my adductor magnus.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:31 PM
chargers defense picked a fine time to not show up. manning just carving these bitches up
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:32 PM
i actually think the colts are going to blow SD out. the defense looks horrendous. rivers can run a nice offense … but there’s no way he’ll be able to put 30 on the board. none. this has the look and feel of 31-7.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:36 PM
Manning looked great on that drive, but he looked great in the beginning of last years playoff game against the chargers too
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:37 PM
Chargers don’t get so more pressure this one’s over. Should be 14-0 if 87 hadn’t started slow.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:38 PM
Ummm….did the site just trip out for anyone else?
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:39 PM
Colts have given up 6 passing tds all season.
Holy fuck, Rivers. There was no one with 10 yards.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:39 PM
yes, site fell out for a minute.
if the Chargers dont score on this drive, it’s over. Indy has moved the ball at will the first two times. Sanders, you can start the gloating now.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:40 PM
Hawkeye – Yep.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:40 PM
wow, Sproles with huge run there. more sproles, please.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:40 PM
Nice run
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:42 PM
TBL – Kicking the server in anger is never a good thing. That’s what a cat is for
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:43 PM
uh-oh. inc pass on 3rd there and the colts will get the ball back looking to put this bad-boy away early
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:43 PM
Anyone else try the ESPN streak for the cash game? I am enjoying it.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:44 PM
If this is like last year the Colts will now drive all the way down the field and Marv will fumble and completely change the game.
/Reverse jinx’d
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:45 PM
I went into this cheering for the Chargers, but if they aren’t going to try then to hell with them. So far this is shameful. Charger fans have to be kicking themselves knowing how good this team could have been the past two years. Norv needs to be banished to Bolivian.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Woah an Ashley Manning sighting, Peyton let her out of the basement?
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:47 PM
Cracker Jack -
/link?
Archie, your wife and daughter in law aren’t in Tiajuana eating peyote and banging dudes.
That’s what Al meant, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:49 PM
Here’s hoping Washington wins the Pac 10 or at least does really well so that KU win looks better.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:49 PM
chargers get lucky there. inches short of the 1st.
SD needs luck – like the Falcons got with that freak fumble TD
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:49 PM
whoa! that cheerleader! rewinding ..
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:53 PM
good thing gates is healthy, huh? 5 catches, 1st and goal
my gosh, the SD cheerleaders are incredible.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:54 PM
TD LT and we’ve got a ballgame.
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:54 PM
here we go again for the colts
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:57 PM
Time to get some longer spikes for the game
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:00 PM
Anthony Gonzalez isn’t making it very hard for the Colts to part with Harrison at season’s end.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:04 PM
UCONN beats Rutgers 80-49. Ends the “top 3 in three games” run for Rutgers — lost by 22 to Carolina, 6 to Pitt, 31 to UCONN. This would suggest that Rutgers, per usual, really sucks.
Regardless of those numbers, I’d say Pitt is the best team right now …
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:08 PM
i thought the Cards were lucky to be in the game earlier today … well, the Chargers are lucky the Colts haven’t blown them out of the water yet. just dont know how long the Bolts can hold on.
indy gets ball first in the 2nd half, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:12 PM
TBL
- Yes, they do. If the Colts can somehow break the Chargers’ punter’s leg they’ll win this by 20+. He’s the difference maker, thus far.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:16 PM
I think that was a bad challenge
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:18 PM
curry vs. duke wednesday. can’t wait for sc to absolutely roast scheyer. so pitt’s the best team because it went from 0 legit wins to a win at GT, which, just prior to the Conn game, was a young team?
let’s no go overboard. it’s still UNC and everyone else. best in BE? Pitt this week maybe Conn next week, then GT, then who knows, Syracuse or WVU – it’s madness!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:19 PM
short field here, RIvers. let’s get a TD to CLOSE the half. dont leave manning any time at all
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:20 PM
look at sproles dance!
oh, that was a good piece on the chargers defense shifting constantly until the final 10 seconds. good stuff
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:21 PM
Jesus Christ, the Colts may lose this game because their punter sucks compared to the other team’s. That shit ain’t right.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:23 PM
I said this in the other post but Pitt is the best team in the Big East. Next week, the week after, the next month, whenever.I’ve seen them play 5 times already and I don’t care if they didn’t play anyone, they tur up the d whenever they need to. They have every piece you need and a ferocious defense. Dejaun Blair is an animal.
This coming from a Cuse fan.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:24 PM
What does everyone think: In bound or out of bounds?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:26 PM
didn’t think he was in bounds on the catch, but agreed that it wouldn’t have been smart to review it and be out of reviews
sproles, TD! 14-10!!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 PM
agreed. just hope shoot-happy fields remembers this, and the mercurial sam young (has he officially shed that label) continues his improvement.
sidenote: i covered Tyrell Biggs in high school. great kid. nice talent. good hands and good feet. dont know if he has the tools to be a pro, but uh, mark madsen is in the NBA, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 PM
uh-oh….
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 PM
whoa … i thought i heard whistles? actually, on replay … that’s close … hey, everyone needs luck
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 PM
that’s a fumble!!!!!!
oh shit, SD needs this overturned and then another TD
this is HUGE
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 PM
1. That’s a fumble
2. I love the old “I fumbled so now I’m injured” routine by the Colts kick returner.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:29 PM
Awesome. Two years in a row off the street backups are going to cost the Colts seven points. Last year it was Kenton Keith dropping a pass into an INT in the end zone, this year it’s Chad Simpson fumbling a kickoff. Fantastic.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:29 PM
Mark Madsen is in the NBA. Is he a pro? Debatable
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:29 PM
well … from that angle, it’s like a tie. tie goes to whom? think it’ll be tough to overturn. real close. damn.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:31 PM
on second thought, i think it is coming out. i can understand how indy fans would flip over this … but hey, i wagered on SD, so im hoping it goes the bolts way.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:31 PM
Looks like ball’s loose as his knee hits the ground. Inconclusive evidence?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:31 PM
Biggs is nice and he’s only the 4th or 5th option. If Pitt doesn’t make it past the Sweet 16 this year there is something seriously wrong.
Wake Forest looks totally disinterested in playing defense against bYU. Geez, get a hand in someone’s face.
Oh, there’s a football game on?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:32 PM
mad dog madsen: clearing 2.6 mil this year on the Minny bench.
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/minnesota.htm
yeah, definitely a pro
lol
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:32 PM
oh fuck. bummer for SD. that would have been enormous
the state of indiana breathes a massive sign of relief.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 PM
I rang that alarm a week ago. TBL, wager time on whether Duke or Wake finishes higher in the ACC?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 PM
“I remember the old days when a fumble was a fumble”
God, I wish Madden would choke on a fucking turkey leg already.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 PM
what channel is wake game on?
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 PM
They’ll be fine. As many times as they’ve been behind at halftime this year, this shit’s old hat.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:34 PM
TBL- Let me clarify. Madsen is a pro at dancing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1ciMXvSE8U&feature=related
And I may more may not have his Stanford jersey. Seriously
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:35 PM
I still think Duke is going to beat Carolina once, and maybe even twice, this year.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:37 PM
Wake is on the Mountain channel (MTN). Can’t imagine many people have that Network. I mean Wake takes some of the worst shots I’ve ever seen and BYU is just blowing by these guys on defense. This is what happens when you don’t play anyone early in the season. This is a contender for the title? I think not.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:41 PM
The only reason Wake is tied is because the refs have already put them in the double bonus with 12 minutes left. What a joke.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:43 PM
300 is on HBO. this is a bad-ass movie.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:45 PM
BS – hey, at least you can’t blame it on this simpson kid. but it’s not like you’ll need to … as you said, Indy is the master of the 2nd half rally. and, it has manning.
just checked: NO MTN for me.
however, Good Will Hunting is also on (Bravo), and that’s another damn good movie.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:48 PM
Good Will Hunting > 300, though those dudes have cool physiques
/Still pumped after finally benching 300 pounds
//Yep, that was kinda (being kind) gay
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:50 PM
I will say, Wake has some sick athletes.Jeff Teague and Aminu can play anywhere. Next Sunday against Carolina is going to be fun.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:52 PM
God, I wish Madden would choke on a fucking turkduckin leg already.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:53 PM
you put up 300? damn. i haven’t maxed out, but i know i sure as hell couldnt touch that. then again, i only weight 165 (im like sproles, but taller)
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:54 PM
nice 4th down stop. 2 guys went to dallas clark and didnt bite on the fake – you know manning wanted him
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:56 PM
I know no one cares but last 8 shots for BYU down 4 with 6 minutes left.
Blocked Shot, Missed 3, missed 3, block shot, missed 3, missed 3, missed 3, layup.
Thats some nice offense. Too bad Wake keeps turning it over.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:56 PM
TBL
- I weight 190 so it’s probably a little different. God damn, the Colts are going to find a way to blow another game against the Chargers. Fuck, I’m getting sick of this shit.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:57 PM
Come on, Chargers!
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:59 PM
Sounds like bsanders is about to begin drinking heavily
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:02 PM
Nah, drinking regularly, just sick of them blowing opportunities.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:04 PM
45 seconds left Wake up 2 and ByU’s only 3 big men have all fouled out, Wake with a huge offensive rebound to go up 2.
For a home game BYU has gotten a bad whistle tonight
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 PM
haha!
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 PM
fucking quick snap long TD pass to Wayne. great call by manning. dammit!
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:08 PM
Wow. That was cheap. Effective, but cheap. It all counts on the scoreboard.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:09 PM
BS – been pondering creatine or something to bulk up, but the problem is then you HAVE to work out or you just get fat. so im going to pass and be content with lifting and probably a max of like (eventually), the bar and 2 45-plates on each side.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:12 PM
Wake survives as BYU just kept chucking up 3s for no reason. Great gut check win for Wake.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:12 PM
TBL
- Certain types of creatine basically make you retain water for a couple months and then it turns into muscle mass. But if you quit using it sooner you’ll lose all the mass. There’s a lot of stuff out there that works ok, but most of it’s crap. I actually did HGH for a bit in college after I got shot and couldn’t work out. It’s awesome, but I quit as soon as I was back in shape because I wasn’t sure what the long-term effects would be.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:14 PM
can hester get some carries? sproles is too tiny to take a 20-carry pounding.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:15 PM
If the chargers win do they just cut LT before next week’s game?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:16 PM
HGH? damn. dont really feel like i want to mess with anything. not entering any bodybuilding contests, have the wife, and dont live at the beach, so staying in shape is really the only the goal, not really getting jacked (though it might seem fun)
a michael bennett sighting?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:17 PM
gotta be honest – im real surprised this is even close. but the chargers will find a way to fuck it up
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:18 PM
HGH can, among other things, cause organ distention. Although I’m assuming that’s only if you abuse it wildly.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:19 PM
oh geez, this could be a fumble. shit
not good.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:19 PM
and there it is.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:19 PM
OMG, did the Chargers just make a Colts-esque fuckup? Please say it’s so!
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:21 PM
That is exactly why Sproles is not an every down back. The prior play was a stupid between the tackles call and then a nice screen call and Sproles had no clue where he was when going down. ugh.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:21 PM
Only used it for two months. Every physical since then has checked out. Had the clap once in college, but a 10-day course of scrips knocked that right out.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:22 PM
man, SD is going to need a turnover. and just as i type that, Cromartie drops a fucking pick.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:23 PM
And, let not forget Lyle Alzado.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:23 PM
whew. nice 3 and out, D. so the chargers just need to mount another drive. this has the feel of, ‘if peyton gets it last, Indy wins’
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:25 PM
HGH in of itself, is not a bad thing. It is against sports rules, but it is not steroids and don’t confuse sports doping rules with what is actually legal when prescribed by a doc.
/No way in hell I’m taking HGH, but I usually forget to take vitamins.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:25 PM
Wait – did bsanders just say he was shot? I never knew this. Was it Plaxico style? Are you a cop?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:27 PM
have there been an inordinate amount of early whistles tonight or is it just me?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:28 PM
Bsanders got his ass shot. He recited the story a couple months ago.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:31 PM
gotta go on 4th down here.
nice win for Wake. hey, take what you can
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:32 PM
let’s hope for a favorable spot … it doesn’t look good. could be a link short. fuck. that would be a disaster
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 PM
wtf throw is that! a massive duck. geez. terrible decision, rivers. fuck
fuck
fuck
no shot now
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 PM
And Rivers get picked
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 PM
Yeah, I got robbed and shot three times a few years ago. Wish it was Plaxico, I would have stopped at one.
Man, I hate Rivers…but that piece of shit is a damn good QB.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:35 PM
That’s Norv’s fault, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:35 PM
When he threw that I assumed his receiver was deep. I did not expect the safety sitting 7 yards deep in the endzone. Bad bad bad pass.
The dude was down in the endzone. The Colts should be starting at the 10.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:36 PM
norv’s fault? what, for that fucking duck into double coverage? he hasn’t thrown deep all game and he picks the 4th qtr to try it.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:37 PM
Sarcasm, TBL.
You got it at -2? Tailing your Moneyline buddy, who’s -32x on the NFL this season?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:38 PM
Jesus H…Chargers with turnovers, Colts with penalties and field position…no one wants to win…
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:39 PM
Seven dislocated fingers? Guess those draftniks who said PM had a questionable arm were wrong…
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:40 PM
Jesus H…Chargers with turnovers, Colts with penalties and field position…no one wants to win…
No kidding. This will probably get spun as a great game, which it might end up, but it is nothing more than a really close game due to ineptedness. Entertaining, though, and that’s all I ask for.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:41 PM
Somewhere, Matt Cassell is shaking his head.
Likely beside some ridiculously hot woman.
The bastard.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:41 PM
Damn…Marvin Harrison is nothing more than a human four-yard slant right now. Sad, really.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:42 PM
Reflecting on how he got beat by both these teams?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Looked like a pick to me.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:43 PM
tick tick tick
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:44 PM
TTTTIIIICCCCKKKK tick tick tick tick
Berman’d
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:45 PM
Who will turn it over for SD this time?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:46 PM
can SD eat the entire clock and score a TD to win?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:48 PM
Not sure the Colts deserve to win this one. They could’ve pounced early when the Chargers were ready to quit and didn’t. If they blow it now they just let it slip away.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:50 PM
mike – nope. i put my picks here friday, you may not have been around. but i got SD +2.
i’ve actually hit 5 of my last 6 picks. but all good streaks come to an end. (wins: Pitt in hoops, ole miss, utah, usc in football, arizona in nfl; loss: Cincy)
was out of the mix for the last six or seven weeks. was tapped out. then my futures hit (dolphins, lions) and im back, baby. now if rivers can NOT fuck this up…
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:50 PM
Rivers trying to do his best Ryan Leaf impression there
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 PM
this game will have no winner, only a team that has less desire to lose
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 PM
wow, bennett slipped through 2 guys … i dont know if he got it.
obviously you go, but i dont know if the rivers sneak will work again
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 PM
More of a Rick Mirer impression.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 PM
wow, tie gets the first down!!!!!
lol
how hot are the SD cheerleaders???
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 PM
indi – Challenge the spot.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 PM
With all of the 21st century technology, couldn’t we get a more definite way to measure for a first down versus some lineman’s judgment and 2 fat guys holding a chain?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:53 PM
i know rivers wants to be a hero, but guy, CHILL WITH THE DEEP PASSES into major coverage? geez ….
3rd and nine, dial up something to sproles
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:53 PM
Good lord Rivers. Stop throwing down field for gods sake.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:54 PM
computer chips in the balls here we come
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:55 PM
Roeth -
I found a new beer (for around these parts) in the booze house today. Southampton Altbier. Made in Wilkes-Barre. Heard of it?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:55 PM
that’s a GREAT golden globes promo
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:56 PM
Obvious screen to Sproles. do something else.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:56 PM
holy balls what a punt
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:56 PM
That punter is awesome.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:58 PM
So Golden Globes in HD is a good thing, right?
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:58 PM
Indy will pull a belichek and take the safety if they don’t get the 1st down, if they’re smart.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:58 PM
i dont see how SD pulls this off. at best they can get to OT, but i’ll still lose. basically, best case scenario is a safety.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:58 PM
Jesus Christ the Chargers’ punter has totally dominated this game. He’s probably responsible for 10 of SD’s points with his field position changes.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:59 PM
^and risk a game-winning FG by SD? No way.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:00 PM
this one’s over. too painful to watch. angry at the $ loss, but hey, at least SD didnt get blown out.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 PM
if you’re the colts, do you risk a pass? or just run it? i believe whatever their decision is, it will work. that’s just how it goes with manning.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 PM
KC – no, never heard of it. WB is about 4.5 hours away though, so it’s not exactly “local”.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 PM
Unless they, you know, win in OT.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 PM
whoa!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 PM
Did Manning lose the ball?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
sacked!!!!! why’d he eat that? looked like the CB wasn’t in position. wow, SD has a chance
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
Hell yeah!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
oh boy
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
NOW they should take the safety
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
Say again, TBL?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
oh, manning held it because clark was right in the line of his pass (slant to wayne?)
mike come on, man … you know they’ll lose in OT
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:03 PM
If you’re SD, I think you’re glad that wasn’t a safety.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:04 PM
Roeth -
Thought it was weird that it ended up in Kansas. $8.50 a six pack. Not sure how it ended up in this store.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:04 PM
but if they take a safety, and SD hits a fG, they lose. i guess it could be worse – the punt could be bad, and SD could get a TD?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 PM
wow, 38 yards to glory rivers. this like your 3rd chance THIS QUARTER
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 PM
That punt was 68 yards in the air from where he kicked it…I wish I could do that,
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 PM
Do you play it safe and play for the FG or get a little aggressive?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 PM
anything but a three and out or turnover = ot at worst
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:06 PM
No way you take a safety there. You lose two points and give up a chance to lose for 30 yards of field position with 2 minutes left? Thats just dumb.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:06 PM
i really hope norv isn’t playing for a fG ….
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Uh oh.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
they are in FG range now, run and if you score then you score, otherwise just make sure you can hit the FG
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
inside the 20. DO NOT PLAY FOR THE FG, MANNING WILL BE YOU IN OT YOU DUMB FUCKS
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
damn gates!!! stay injured
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Go score a touchdown. Don’t settle for the FG.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM
safety was the smart play, now Indy loses to an 8-8 team.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:08 PM
OT here we come.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:08 PM
they are so stupid to play for OT. this is, you know, speaking as a gambler. but in reality, MANNING HAS TIMEOUTS, and you know how he rolls
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:09 PM
GO for it
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Score a fucking touchdown! A run!!! Fuck!!!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Indy takes a TO?
GO FOR IT!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:09 PM
30 seconds is like an eternity for manning. i hope the chargers lose in regulation. they deserve it. fuck them.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:09 PM
You Play to Win the Game!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 PM
i remember when kaeding missed a FG against the jets in the playoffs a few years ago.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 PM
2 timeouts lol, this game is over the second indy gets the ball.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 PM
FG good. Colts win.
they will
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 PM
whoops thought it was fourth an inches…I’m dumb
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 PM
When the Chargers lose in OT… they deserved it.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Tall guy- safety is a dumb play. At best SD gets the ball at their own 35 and only needs to go 35 yards for a game WINNING field goal. Considering the indy d just gave up 35 yards on that drive no one would ever do that.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Why did they spike it on first down? They had 16 yards to get and a whole minute to get it. They wasted a down for no real reason.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Peyton Manning ran onto the field as though he were in a game of Tecmo Bowl.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:13 PM
For whomever calls the coin flip remember, tails never fails
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:14 PM
and tomorrow, everyone will bash the NFL’s archaic overtime rules.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:14 PM
norv’s mistake was not running it on second down. If he runs it on second no way Indy is going to burn a time out to let them set up a play for the end zone. Run it on second down, bleed the clock and run a play with about 15 and then call your last timeout if need be.
NFL coaches are morons.
Looks like it won’t hurt though,
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:14 PM
this is actually my mantra in madden! lol
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM
You prefer the video game- style college overtime rules instead?
You’re allowed to play defense in OT. It is part of the game.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Green Bay had the ball first in last year’s NFC championship OT. I remember it not working out for that Favre fellow.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Why are you guys so sure Indy is going to win? You take away the play where the Chargers were asleep and they’ve given up 10 points all night.
Now all of a sudden they have no shot at stopping the Colts?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM
4th team timeout?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM
SD has 4 time outs?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:16 PM
ok, Sunday Morning QB, after SD loses:
Did Norv bungle the final drive in regulation?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:17 PM
manning > favre
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:18 PM
Who cares? It didn’t cost them anyways. What was he supposed to do, have Rivers throw it in the endzone?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:18 PM
why dont we just do a penalty kick shootout? that’s how bad nfl overtime is. yup, really.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Donovan in his hotel paying attention to Al Michaels here? Might come in handy tomorrow.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 PM
It’s a shame this playoff game is going to end in a tie.
/McNabb’d
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 PM
when they lose, it will.
the spike was terrible. there was plenty of time left.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 PM
We want the ball, and we’re going to score
//hassebecked
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Told you tails never fails.
/except for 50% of the time.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 PM
jamal williams: “Game’s over.” i rewound it three times.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 PM
So thats why everyone will scream about the OT rules? Thats ridiculous.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:23 PM
They fumbled on the 1 and Rivers threw a pick in the end zone. I’m not sure how you can get on Norv for being conservative. I hate Norv but I mean come on, most coaches would have been conservative in that situation. And they did call a pass play on second down. If they score a TD with 50 seconds left you guys would still be screaming that Norv messed up because he gave Manning too much time.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:23 PM
i like my sports socialist by nature – salary cap, and an even opportunity in overtime. i dont care what the stats are on teams that get the ball first and winning. give each team a chance.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:23 PM
College OT > NFL OT
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 PM
i dont like the sudden death part of OT, they should play the quarter and who ever scores the most wins. What does driving down the field for 45 yards to kick a FG prove about one team being better than the other?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 PM
Again, TBL, it’s called DEFENSE.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 PM
NFL OT >>>> Fox’s OT
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 PM
let me guess, 2nd down screen to sproles?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 PM
fair points. i still feel if SD loses, the final drive will be analyzed. perhaps to death.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:25 PM
You keep saying the Chargers have already lost, but you still haven’t answered why there’s no way the Chargers can stop the Colts when they have all game.
Plus the Chargers have the ball first.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:25 PM
boy that was hard to call.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:25 PM
Colts D has been pretty good tonight when SD hasn’t started inside the Colts 40-yard line. Here’s hoping!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:25 PM
Do the chargers have four plays? Run up the middle, dump to sproles, dump to gates over the middle, toss a pick downfield.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:26 PM
sproles the savior!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:26 PM
Damn that was a real nice catch by sproles. Damn.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:26 PM
“give each team a chance.”
Ok, but what about the Ravens? Aren’t you giving them a better chance by putting them on defense first? I mean, their offense is the weaker component of the team, so chances are if they go on defense first then they’ll get good field position.
I realize that goes completely out the window because no team will go on defense first, other than the Lions, even if their Defense is that much better.
You need to put confidence in the offense, but still, I don’t think it is fair to say that both teams don’t have a chance. They get a chance once their defense comes up with a stop.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 PM
Jamal Williams definitely said game over at the coin toss. Good catch TBL.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 PM
sproles is officially one of my favorite 10 players in the league.
5-6, 181 pounds. that, friends, is incredible
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:28 PM
Colts are going to lose. Everything that can go wrong right now is. Just one of those games. Again.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:28 PM
You keep saying the Chargers have already lost, but you still haven’t answered why there’s no way the Chargers can stop the Colts when they have all game.
I hate to say it, but… Manning. I get what you are saying, however.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:29 PM
gates just dragging people. nice
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:29 PM
Gates is a man
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:29 PM
5-6, 181 pounds. that, friends, is TBl
Good drive by the Chargers.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:30 PM
Grounding….
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:30 PM
wow he, did fumble that. lucky to get it back.
and rivers lucky to throw that one away.
fun game
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:31 PM
I don’t get running Sproles between the tackles unless they are setting something up.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:31 PM
thats a bad call
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Game over. Goodnight, folks.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:31 PM
that was complete bs
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:32 PM
holding, ok thats fine then
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:32 PM
That was a hold.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:32 PM
Game set match
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
that was a hold, TG
and that was a facemask.
and now nate, you better get ready.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
Wow, colts self destructing, why grab his facemask there?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
Setting Indy up for facemask.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
Dungy and Manning choke yet again.
/CRM’d
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
stop guys, nate is going to miss
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
NOW the games over, and why the OT should be changed. The Colts are going to lose because they made 1 penalty
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:33 PM
that guy better be cut asap, what a fucking moron.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
the game is NOT over. SD will fuck this up, TRUST ME
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
TBL stop reversing jinxing your picks. It’s getting annoying
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
Holy shit
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
And LT has company folks
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
SPROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
awesome.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Or, you know, because they allowed the opposing team to drive 80 yards down the field for a TD.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Jesus Christ, you’re fucking negative
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
how badly were you trying to reverse jinx this tbl?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
I fucking hate officials that call every single small contact made during the game. It’s fucking football, not a game of tag. The officiating is the single reason why the Chargers just won in OT. It’s a bunch of bullshit.
Fuck Philip Rivers and his vampire teeth.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Yeah, the TBL whining in this thread is terrible. Especially now that the Chargers won.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
This is true.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 PM
sproles is the mother fuckin man!!!!!!
(also, if you rewind to the facemask penalty … you’ll see the ColtsLB, 55, was the victim of a facemask, too. SD lineman had his hand inside the facemask of 55)
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:36 PM
I don’t see how overtime can be changed without moving to the college system, which is rather ridiculous (though as fair as it gets). Maybe just play the full quarter?
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:36 PM
reversing picks: i have to do this. the first time i say, ‘it’s a lock!’ i will jinx it.
sorry.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:37 PM
If there’s any team with the inner will to overcome a first round playoff loss, it’s Indianapolis. They’re still my Super Bowl pick.
/bsanders
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:37 PM
And to think Slow Ohio State dominated Sproles!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:37 PM
Or you could just not say anything.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Don’t forget a very, very stupid face mask penalty
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:38 PM
That’s the deal, man. You just play a fifth quarter.
Just like the home team gets the bottom of the tenth if they need it.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:39 PM
new post it up.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:40 PM
Yes. Exactly.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:40 PM
No offense but saying it over and over and over again is a little much. But whatever I only saw the last 10 minutes of that game anyway.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:41 PM
these interviews are TERRIBLE
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:42 PM
+1 Nick
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:46 PM
TBL I hope you lose all the games you have money on tomorrow.
