Kate Hudson seems like fun, no? … Forbes loves a good list: the weakest housing markets … Man gave kidney to his wife, she cheats on him, and in the divorce, he’s asking the kidney back, or the value of it … property tax revolts this year or next? … conspiracy theorists and John Travolta’s son … for Incredible Hulk fans: One David Banner arrested for making threatening calls to Boston sports talk radio station … that sure is one DEVELOPING STORY … well, this hospital’s about to get sued …
“He wanted to go to the Yankees, his wife doesn’t like Boston — apparently she doesn’t like the stores on Newbury Street or something — and in the end that’s the way it goes.” (Extra Bases)

Love when Gammons’ true Boston-bias comes out every once in a while. Always looks like a schmuck who loses more credibility eachtime.

Kate Hudson?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:15 AM
We’ve seen him exposed over the last month without Plaxico (3 TD’s, 3 INT’s total in five games).
January 8th, 2009 at 8:19 AM
pki … yes?

Sorry. She is one of those celebrities that I would love to put on a rocket ship bound for the black hole.

/from the kidney article
I’m so stealing that phrase.

TBL, is Granger an All-Star? I just can’t see him getting the votes needed over other guys.
Also, my Hoosiers are just downright brutal this year. Squandering 20pt second half leads at home are going to make for a long year.

Actual Jeopardy question from last night:
Category: Sore Losers. “What NFL headcoach threw a hissy fit and walked off the field with 1 second left in the 2008 Super Bowl?”
Et tu, Jeopardy?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:25 AM
Depends on what you’re really asking. Who’s been the best QB this year? That’d be Marmalard in a walk (though he didn’t do jack last week). Who plays QB for the best team (which is what’s REALLY being asked, isn’t it?)? Well, that’s Eli or Big Ben. If you were a coach, who would you want playing QB for you? Give me the guy who isn’t known for multiple-pick or fumble extravaganzas. So I’ll take…um…shit…gotta be someone…Rivers?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:27 AM
When are you going to STFU about the PACERS TBL? They are a lock to get into the playoffs. What the hell is wrong with you?

Stay tuned tomorrow for the Bob Kravitz “Tom Crean must go” article.
That was brutal last night, you could just see those guys playing not to lose in the last 5 minutes. Its gonna be a looonngg season.
Granger was magnificent last night, not only hit the 3, but also tied the game after PHX took the lead.

TBL : nothing was more embarrassing than Gammons on the field when the Sox won game 7 in 2004. He was more or less celebrating with the players and was giddy like a little school girl. Have never really cared for him much since. Doesn’t help that I bleed pinstripes…
January 8th, 2009 at 8:31 AM
That sounds like it hurts.

McConaughey is not a syndrome. He is, however, one of our finest working actors. I recently discovered how I could lose him in 10 days.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:34 AM
In a walk? Explain.
He could be in the discussion, sure. But misters Brees, Manning (Peyton), and Warner would like to talk.
BTW — Notice something about all four of those guys I listed? They all play in warm weather (or domes) at least half the time. I know this is obvious but it should be discussed more when these guys put up huge numbers.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:39 AM
That’s why Manning is the only Dome QB to win an outdoor SB, isn’t it?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:39 AM
Maybe Gammons will get off the angry train when Smoltz and Baldelli sign with the Sox today. I used to get annoyed with him. Now he just sounds like the angry old man yelling at neighborhood kids.

bsanders – did Scrubs seem better than usual this week, or is it just because most of the other comedies (save Office/30 Rock, HIMYM) on TV suck so bad?

- I was referring to who has been the best QB this year of those 8 left in the playoffs. Rivers has more TD’s, a higher QB rating, fewer picks, SEVERAL fewer fumbles, and his team destroyed the Pats, wasn’t destroyed by. So he’s been better than Warner this year.
Yes! We need to devalue Manning a bit more, I think. According to the commenters here, he’s dropped what, about 15-20 spots on the all-time list in the past five days?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:42 AM
Scrubs definitely had a strong opening. The non emotional chick is my new favorite character.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:44 AM
That’s my feeling. Those are the only other comedies on TV I watch, by the way. Well, except for The Simpsons, but that’s mostly out of obligation. There Mypods and Broomsticks ep earlier this year was great, though.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:44 AM
Hahaha. Not my intention. I was defending Peyton yesterday.

- It’s cool. I would say that those QB’s numbers are generated more by their offense and less by the weather. Look at the change in Brady’s numbers when the Pats went to an empty set about 70% of the time and threw it about 600 times last year. It was because they used their short passing game as a substitute running game, much like the Cardinals do with Boldin and the Saints do (the five games a year he plays) Reggie Bush.

@Irish Mafia…touche!
About that Ray Pruit Twitter…I read a great article a while back about Jamie Walters, the dude who played Ray on 90210. He was complaining about the fact that he used to get harassed at concerts by people asking “why did you have to hit Donna” or “how does it feel to be a low-life who beats on girls”. Hilarious that people acted like that was reality. Anyway, he’s now a paramedic with the LA County Fire Dept.

@Crackerjack…agreed on the strong Scrubs start. The non-emotional chick is great, but so is the Indian dude who’s going to constantly be getting under JD’s skin.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:54 AM
@bsanders — That’s a valid point, but the weather even affects Tom Brady and that ridiculous 2007 offense. Brady’s QB rating was almost 140 in September/October versus about 100 in November/December.
Getting to play in ideal conditions all the time is a big deal for a quarterback (and the offense in general, of course). It’s important to remember when you compare guys like Warner/Rivers to Roethlisburger/McNabb.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:56 AM
Man gave kidney to his wife, she cheats on him, and in the divorce, he’s asking the kidney back,
Hoes aint shit. I wish I would give my wife a kidney. Wouldn’t it be easier to wait for her to die and then get a hot 19 year old to get with? I mean dude is a doctor right?
January 8th, 2009 at 8:59 AM
My wife understands that I would leave her in a hot second if Kate Hudson was knocking on the door. It wouldn’t last, but god damn would it be fun…
January 8th, 2009 at 9:01 AM
Don’t think you can blame that all on the weather. The Pats as a collective whole seemed to hit a wall about 10 or 11 weeks into that season. Plus, they really only played two bad weather games during that stretch – against the Jets and the Dolphins. Coincidentally, Brady has his two worst games of the year. Wind affects every QB, I’m not denying that.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:01 AM
That’s what Tar Baby did.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:03 AM
With regards to that Hulk story, they apparently didn’t like David Banner when he was angry.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:05 AM
That’s what Tar Baby did.
LOL. I forgot that guy was a heart surgeon.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:12 AM
Real problem is property taxes tax potential gain, not realized gain. Many long-time homeowners around here will pay the actual cost of their house (a $30,000 house from the 70’s) in 3 years of 21st C taxes. Unreal.

I love Peter, but that was unprofessional.
His wife isn’t supposed to have a say in where they live for the next 8 years?
January 8th, 2009 at 9:41 AM
Wow, Peter Gammons showing his complete Boston bias? NO FREAKIN WAY!!#!($^#!@
TBL, Boston = the underdog, so Gammons is just standing up for said underdog! In no way, shape, or form is he wearing Ortiz feety pajamas when he goes to bed. God, he’s fallen so far recently it’s embarassing.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:46 AM
Give the guy a break, anuerysms do funny things sometimes.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:19 AM
travel. he took three steps before he ever dribbled the ball. This one is much worse…
