Wonder if Dungy’s coming home to Tampa to run the show ala Parcells???
/talking to myself
//better than out loud, I guess

Let’s hope they have a plan. Chuckie won’t be unemployed for long.

As a Bucs fan I can only say, WTF?
I don’t get this at all.

So, you think the dude who comes in next year will take Gruden’s team to a title? Those Tampa Bay fans must be a fickle bunch.

Wade Phillips will not sleep easy tonight.

Doubt it. Dungy was never a personnel guy, but he did have one of the best of all time taking care of it for him in Indy. I love Dungy, but think it’d be a mistake to try and turn him into something he’s never done/likely wouldn’t succeed at.

try this again..
I guess Tom Cable will be the next coach, then
Agreed w/ Dungy, but w/ the whole living in Tampa thing…
My guess is he might have thought about something like this in Tampa in a few years, not a few days

Wade Phillips will not sleep with the fishes tonight.

Possibly in a few years, yeah. But him taking the Tampa job right now would kind of be giving the finger to Irsay, Polian and the Colts’ locker room, and though many NFL coaches certainly could care less, Dungy’s the last guy I could see doing that. It’ll be interesting to see what direction Tampa goes in now. Herm’s a Cover 2 guy, but I can’t see Tampa going the recycled route. Rivera maybe?

Didn’t Herm work in Tampa w/ Dungy, tho?
btw, Saw The Wrestler today. Mickey Rourke was unbelievable. Man, that scene at the end had to have affected him 9a la Art Imitating Life). I saw him on South Beach down here about 18 months ago, and it was kinda sad. It was just like the movie, in many ways…

He did. So did Lovie Smith, Marinelli and Tomlin. With Kiffin leaving, I could see them going for a defensive guy, but then again their offense is a mess right now. They need some WR’s and a QB to develop for the future. That defense is getting old in spots (Brooks, Barber), too. They could really go either direction, I suppose.

as a Lions fan, I’m pissed as hell this didn’t happen yesterday. Granted half our coaching staff and players are from Tampa, but Gruden would’ve been a nice option in Detroit.
January 16th, 2009 at 6:49 PM
I was going to post the exact same thing, giggy. Even though the Lions would have screwed it up somehow and not gotten him anyway. Ford probably wouldn’t pay him.
January 16th, 2009 at 6:50 PM
Actually their defens e is in pretty good shape – they have more young contributors than old ones. I think they did a pretty good job bringing along a new generation on D just as Broks and Barber are on the downside of their careers

I forgot they picked up Cato June from the Colts, who’s AWESOME. He’s so good he only got ran over 364 times during the 2006 season. At least he was kind enough to put out a youtube video apologizing.

The Vikings had better fire Brad Childress immediately and offer Gruden approximately 1 billion dollars.

Remember when the NFL had some semblance of continuity from year to year?
Shanahan to Tampa, Gruden to Dallas, book it.
January 16th, 2009 at 7:09 PM
Gruden to the Rams
/fingers crossed, it needs to happen
//Or Rex Ryan, just no more re-treads
January 16th, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Gruden to Notre Dame.
/This is something that has to be mentioned every single year about this time. Just getting it out of the way so we can move on.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:42 PM
Yeah; it was called the ’60s.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:17 PM
So, wheres he goin?
January 16th, 2009 at 9:23 PM
The NFL seems to be backing up the whole “copy cat league” notion. Fire your experienced, proven, successful standing coach and bring in some hotshot 1st timer.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:59 PM
they fired the GM and coach, my bet is that a call has been placed to Mike Shanahan
January 16th, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Well the Bucs didn’t clean house, that’s for sure.
Looks like they just fired Gruden and Allen are are promoting everyone else. Ugh, what a terrible move.
January 17th, 2009 at 12:23 AM
Fat Charlie is not sleeping well tonight.
Gruden will be at ND 2010.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:28 AM

January 17th, 2009 at 10:12 AM
Anyone got a hangover cure? Google isn’t giving me a whole lot of help.
January 17th, 2009 at 10:41 AM
@lance- are you serious? you come on here for fat girl advice and hangover cure?
January 17th, 2009 at 10:43 AM
Can you imagine the Cavs losing when LeBron’s posts a trip doub
of course i can. cleveland is a one man show led team. I hope you are not impressed with your win over NO last night. Orlando killed them already this year
January 17th, 2009 at 11:27 AM
That was a great win considering we were without 2 starters and Ben could only go 15 mins.
January 17th, 2009 at 11:28 AM
@nick p- do you have any idea of what CP3 was saying to the fans courtside?
January 17th, 2009 at 11:55 AM
I don’t, irish. I was at the game but too far away for that.
January 17th, 2009 at 12:03 PM
@nick- i read in the paper that he knew the fans courtside. I find that hard to believe because he talks a lot of shit
