Hartford Courant Now Staffs no Pro Sporting Events
1-liner, Media Gossip/Musings January 23rd. 2009, 1:30pmHartford Courant: Sign of the depressing newspaper times – the premiere paper in Connecticut will no longer staff Red Sox games. “In 2007 the cuts began when the paper stopped staffing beat writers for both the Giants and Yankees. This past football season, the Patriots were not covered by a Courant beat writer for the first time. The Red Sox cutback will mean no major league beats are staffed by the paper.” (E&P)

Newsflash to newspaper readers: Go online…besides, anyone that lives in the 203/860 area codes that would get this paper have access to the boston globe/herald and ny post/times/newsday, their coverage of those teams are better anwyay imo.

Think it totally sucks.
At some point we (Hartford) need to figure out if we’re determined on our own self- determination. The Courant, once a newspaper, has become lite more than an aggregator of hard copy.
There’s big money out there for the person who can find the revenue model that will allow even bloated print media to make big money off the web….
