MMA fans finally get a financial break this weekend. After 3 straight weeks of Pay-Per-View action (Affliction’s second show was sandwiched between UFC 93 and 94), the UFC is giving back to the televised-violence-loving community with UFC Fight Night: Lauzon vs. Stephens. While the free show on SpikeTV doesn’t have any huge names to promote, the UFC hopes that tomorrow’s event will showcase some of the stars of the future of the sport.

One of those future stars is headliner Joe Lauzon. In 21 career fights, Lauzon has never been to a decision. He’s 4-1 inside the octagon and his one loss came against the man who will next fight for the lightweight title, Kenny Florian. Lauzon will be fighting Jeremy Stephens who just recently stepped in to take the place of an injured Hermes Franca. Stephens is another rising name in the 155-pound division. When we last saw him, he survived against and eventually knocked out Rafael do Anjos with a devastating uppercut. (Full fight video here)

The lone heavyweight bout on the card is undefeated Cain Velasquez versus UFC-newcomer, Denis Stojnić. Let me tell you that you haven’t seen Cain Velasquez fight until you’ve watched him repeatedly bounce a guy’s head off the canvas at eye-level. As for Stojnić, what else can be said about a Bosnian kickboxer whose nickname is “The Menace?”

Mac Danzig vs. Josh Neer and Luigi Fioravanti vs. Anthony Johnson will round out the scheduled televised portion of the card. Johnson has some serious knockout power and is the guy I’m most looking forward to seeing. Hopefully, it’s an exciting night and UFC fans get more than the scheduled 4 fights.

The action starts at 9pm Eastern and will air on SpikeTV.
