Some week for Sports Illustrated, huh? The A-Rod scoop has been the top story in sports for the last three days; today, fans turn their attention to the iconic Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Here’s something that shouldn’t surprise you – more than a few SI swimsuit models have dated (or married) athletes. This model to your right is scrumptious Anne V, who a couple of years ago dated New York Knicks forward David Lee. (He’s now dating World Poker Tour Sabina Gadecki.) Elsa Benitez and Rony Seikaly. Benitez was on the 2001 cover. She married the former Syracuse star in 1999 and they were divorced in 2005. Seikaly actually had a nice career – he averaged a double-double for five straight years in the early ’90s. Too bad the Heat weren’t any good.

Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick. She’s 21. They’re getting married this Spring. Very, very well done. Nobody cares that Roddick hasn’t won a Grand Slam event since 2003 because, well …

Tyra Banks and Chris Webber. Banks was the 1997 cover. C-Webb – one of our favorite basketball players, college or pro, of all-time – dated Banks from about 2001-2004 when she was one of the hottest women on the planet.

Rachel Hunter and Jarret Stoll. This is just one of the relationships Sean Avery was talking about when he referred to “sloppy seconds.” Stoll and Hunter are engaged and own a sick house in Hermosa Beach.

Carol Alt and Alexei Yashin. Alt was on the 1982 cover. She’s clearly a hockey – she was married to a New York Ranger for 13 years, and now is dating Yashin, a former Ottawa Senator who plays in Russia.
