The last time Connecticut lost was on a Monday, at home, to a team ranked lower than it was (Georgetown). While the media was frothing over the 25-20-9 from Hasheem Thabeet in an 8-point win over Seton Hall Saturday, nobody made much of the fact that the Huskies trio of guards – Price, Walker and Austrie – minus scorer Jerome Dyson, shot a miserable 6-for-25 against the Pirates.

In last year’s meeting, won by the Huskies, Thabeet produced a modest 6-7-5, while Blair went for 13-13. Tonight’s should be much easier to predict – whichever big guy picks up two fouls first, loses. UConn is favored by three, and a win probably locks up the top seed in the Big East tourney, and a No. 1 seed.

We’re thinking this Dyson loss is going to become apparent tonight as UConn struggles to score against a premiere defensive team. We’re picking Pitt in a mild upset (but maintain, as we have from last April, that Connecticut will win it all in about seven weeks).
