All’s Quiet on the McNabb Trading Front
NFL February 25th. 2009, 4:30pm
All the participants have clammed up in the case of McNabb v Eagles. Who’s lying?
Whoever was the source for the story made a liar out of Reid and the Eagles’ organization, and made a liar out of Fletcher Smith, too. Made them look bad. Whoever was the source of the story did, however, make McNabb look pretty good. Made him look like a desk-pounding kind of guy who isn’t going to sit idly by any longer. Give me a team or trade me. The problem is, according to team sources, he did no such thing.
We’re pulling for McNabb to hit the trade market, because even though one Philly writer is thinking “Chicago-Minnesota-Kansas City” are expected to be the likely landing spot for the best QB in Eagles’ history, we’re holding out hope that the Jets will get in the mix.

You want McNabb on the Jets? I had no idea!

Good God man, give it a rest.

McNabb is a bitch. I think Westbrook and Jackson are pretty good. Also looks like Celek will be a pretty good TE. Thats more weapons than some teams have.

not enough to win a superbowl (or an NFC championship game)

Favre > McNabb seems like a natural progression. Much in the way it is natural for mold to keep growing.

So let’s say they trade McNabb, where do they go from there? Unless they make a deal for another able bodied QB (Cassell?) they kill the franchise for a couple years while they develop an able bodied QB.
Not going to happen.

I just hope Marvin doesn’t end up in Philly. Or Chicago. Or New England. I’d like him to go someplace quite like Seattle where I don’t have to see him in another uniform. And he’s probably not good enough for he who is fat, anyway.

thats a great point unless they brought in another quality QB (and cassel seems to be the only one) they will be rebuilding in the final 2 or 3 years of Westbrook’s prime.

As much as TBL pines for washed up, overpriced vets to land on his team, he should be a Skins fan.
Shaun Rogers wants out of Cleveland after one year. I’m starting to feel bad for Spence. Well, not really, but this is getting kind of sad for the Brownies.

I say trade McNabb for Delhomme…just so philly fans can find out what it’s like to actually have a shitty QB, instead of a good one.
/Fuck Delhomme

Westbrook’s prime was probably two years ago. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him play like Tomlinson, 2008 next season.

Over the hill QB, RB past his prime, and a WR who’s not quite there yet. Blow it all up?

I’d start by getting ridding of that walrus on the sidelines who’s never met a play call he couldn’t screw up. But hey, he has an awesome record in wild card games!

Skins fans don’t pine for such players, but the owner sure does.

TBL, gotta say that leaving this out:
In the end, it doesn’t really matter, because Donovan McNabb is going to quarterback the Eagles next season. If he or someone in his camp feels better about posturing in the media in the interim, I guess that’s fine. If the team doesn’t want to appear backed into a corner by one of its employees, that’s fine, too.
makes your link a tad misleading. Ford, as well as just about every other major member of the Philly media, does not think there is any chance McNabb will be anywhere but Philly next year.

I’m with you TBL. Otherwise, I’d take a shot at Kerry Collins or Chris Simms.

McNabb won’t end up here in Minnesota, nor will we have any participation in his trade, if that happens. I’d rather the Vikes go after Garcia and then draft Harvin/Nicks/Benn. Garcia is enough to get us to the SB.
