Ballin’: Marriage Has Not Done Wonders (Yet) For Marko Jaric’s Game
NBA February 25th. 2009, 10:10am
LA Lakers 107, Oklahoma City 93: Kobe only outscored Durant 36-32 but the reigning MVP was clutch in the fourth, scoring 15 to help the Lakers pull away. The Thunder have lost six in a row, and now have the 2nd worst record in the league, enhancing their chances for Blake Griffin in the draft.
Memphis 79, Cleveland 94: The most amazing stat from this laugher – Marko Jaric, the guy who married a supermodel, shot 0-for-2. That makes him 0-for-12 since getting married. The Cavs lead over the Celtics in that quest for home court advantage is .007.
Detroit 91, Miami 103: D Wade continues his darkhorse run at the MVP – 31 points, 16 rebounds, and a new band-aid under his left eye. Wade has snagged the scoring lead from LeBron (28.8-28.5). Detroit remains a hot mess, losers of seven straight.
Portland 94, Houston 98: Disasterous first half dooms the Blazers, who fell from 4th to 5th in the Western Conference playoff race. The Blazers have lost nine of 10 in Houston, which is where, if the season ended today, Portland would open the postseason. The Rockets won their fifth in a row, all at home. Aaron Brooks, know your role – there’s no reason he should be jackin’ 20 shots.
Orlando 102, Chicago 120: Seven Bulls scored in double figures, led by 22 from D Rose. The Bulls shot a season-high 56 percent, and this marks the second quick PG who has led a team to a rout of the Magic (CP3 did it last week). Hmmmm. Orlando newbie Rafer Alson was 4-for-12 with four turnovers and five assists.

Aaron Brooks, know your role
Holy shit. I had a football flashback.

Can’t win when you play no defense. poor effort all around. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost tonight in NY
Where was your boy Greg Oden last night? hmmmmmm

Alson hasn’t meshed yet with the rest of the Magic. I think they will be much more dangerous come playoff time… however, they will be playing either the Cavs or Boston without home court advantage, so their chances of winning the Eastern Conference this year are pretty much zero.

I think D-Wade had 16 assists not 16 rebounds.

Is Durant already a Top 5 player in the league?
February 25th, 2009 at 10:20 AM
Alson hasn’t meshed yet with the rest of the Magic
Have you watched the past 3 games?
February 25th, 2009 at 10:20 AM
I had a flashback of The Rock.
February 25th, 2009 at 10:24 AM
Right, because it takes watching all 144 minutes of those games to figure out that the new guy doesn’t know all the plays, his new teammates strengths and weaknesses, or where the bathroom in Magic locker room is… Good point.

Top 5 scorer, Mike. Still needs to learn a little about dishing it. Also waiting for him to bulk up so he can get more rebounds.

Is there a bigger attention whore than STD-Wade? The guy turns a scratch on his face into weeks of look-at-me stupidity.
February 25th, 2009 at 10:33 AM
In Durant’s defense, he’s a little limited in who he can dish it to. Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and a collection of poo. And I’d rather have Durant force a shot than have Westbrook shoot a jumper anyway.
That said, the kid’s a star. So much for the great Oden/Durant debate.

Point guards take longer to gell with a team than any other position (in my opinion), because they have to set the offense and often be the first to recognize defensive assignments. It will take them at least the rest of the season to get comfortable with him offensively and defensively.

So you haven’t watched the past 3 games?
February 25th, 2009 at 10:40 AM
Irish: correct. Not in the Orlando market, so I can’t watch the games. I should have made that clear, instead of throwing out a conclusory opinion based on semi-analogous situations (Jason Kidd from last year, although the Mavs don’t have the talent Orlando has).

Is Durant already a Top 5 player in the league?
Kobe
LeBron
D-Wade
Howard
CP3
Short answer–NO

The Cavs played their game against Memphis like it was JV playing time night. Delonte didn’t play, LBJ sat the last 15 minutes of the game, Kinsey started, 4 bench guys played more minutes than 4 of the starters…
Man, Memphis is bad on the road. And, not much better at home either.
February 25th, 2009 at 10:46 AM
So much for the great Oden/Durant debate.
Tough to have a debate when one can’t even step up to the podium.
February 25th, 2009 at 10:46 AM

Just got back from Mardi Gras to read this. Jay, his name is no longer allowed to be mention. He is known simply as “shitty, smiling guy who sucks”.
