Kellen Winslow Just Got Traded to Tampa Bay
1-liner, NFL February 27th. 2009, 12:36pmKellen Winslow: The chatty, talented Browns tight end was just dealt from Cleveland to Tampa Bay. Enjoy Mangini, Browns fans. First, he’s not sold on Brady Quinn, and now he’s dealing away an incredibly-talented tight end. The Tampa QB vacancy just got slightly more attractive. (Middletown Journal)

February 27th, 2009 at 12:41 PM
wouldn’t say that was just mangini getting rid of him. the browns weren’t too happy with winslow anyway.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:41 PM
Honestly, glad he’s gone… He is a very old 25. His body is already almost broken down. His abilities to get downfield lessened noticeably this year. I appreciate his ability to come back from injury and to play hurt, but it doesn’t seem like he will ever be healthy enough to be THE GUY.
Not sure how many or what draft picks they got. I’ll wait to hear that before I say they got a good deal…
February 27th, 2009 at 12:42 PM
LOL Irish, funny guy
Fuck Winslow he can’t catch anyway.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:42 PM
Although, if history repeats itself, he is going from an Ohio team to another team so this might of just paved his way into greatness.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:44 PM
Name a few times that’s happened in the past, Andy.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:46 PM
There’s not a Bart Scott post yet?
February 27th, 2009 at 12:47 PM
Enjoy the sexy pick everyone dumb enough to think this year was a fluke!
February 27th, 2009 at 12:48 PM
too slow Andy. but Fuck Winslow? cmon now.

SECOND!
Metcalf left the Browns to become a pretty good reciever for the sorry ass Falcs.
The Browns moved to Baltimore and won a Superbowl
That’s all I got, Nick.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:49 PM
Oh, thought of another one.
Manny left Cleveland and won two world series with Boston
February 27th, 2009 at 12:50 PM
i love this move…
winslow has probably one or two good years left, he’s an asshole, he can’t block for shit and wants a ton of $$$.
presuming it was a shockey type deal (like last year’s with the saints), the browns got good value.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:52 PM
LeBron left the Cavs and won a championship with the Cavs

February 27th, 2009 at 12:52 PM
Pretty good receiver for the Falcs is not greatness.
True on your Browns point…but then again, fuck the Browns.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:52 PM
Browns fans are something else. Winslow cant block? Winslow is an asshole? Only two good years left?

I think it’s a good deal. He’s a TE, not a QB. There’s an increasing number of good TEs coming out of college these days, including this year. The Browns can replace him with with one of the picks they get for him and still have an additional pick*.
*assuming reports are right about the trade involving multiple picks
February 27th, 2009 at 12:53 PM
seriously, go fuck yourself.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:53 PM
Did this occur at the corner of 1st and 1st, the nexus of the universe?

February 27th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Good luck with him Bucs. Would be worse if Gruden was still there you’d have got Gradkowski & Dorsey instead.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Winslow is injury-prone, and burned his bridge with Cleveland. It’s good they got something for him. I’m sure they got less than what the Saints gave up for Shockey, tho. Still don’t know why Tampa Bay would trade for him.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Whenever Rick Nash demands to be traded to a real hockey franchise, there’s another one.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:55 PM
CC Sabathia left Cleveland, carried the Brewers to the playoffs, won a huge contract, and then won a world series in NY.
/gonna happen.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:55 PM
seriously, go fuck yourself
PERSONAL ATTACK!!!!!BANISHMENT!!!!
February 27th, 2009 at 12:56 PM
he cant block, at all. and with his knee problems 2 yrs is probably about right
i liked him a lot tho, our best WR is gone and who knows what we are gonna get from BE this season
February 27th, 2009 at 12:56 PM
seriously, irish…you CANNOT argue that winslow blocks. he doesn’t even fucking try.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:57 PM
Corey Dillon left the Bengals and won a superbowl with the Pats.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:58 PM
Irish –
I appreciate how hard the dude works. Winslow plays through any injury imaginable. As a Browns fan, I should know because he’s had about every injury imaginable. He has great hands and understands the game.
However, the motorcycle crash did irreparable damage to his knee. The other injuries have contributed to his breakdown. The guy might be 25, but plays like 35. He has great hands, but really struggled this year to get open when teams chose to go man on him.
He also wants a huge contract extension in the next year, which will contribute to how hard he wants to play next year.
It’s a shame, seriously. He had all the tools to be one of the best TE’s ever. His body is balking at that though.
I just read where the Browns may get a 2nd and 3rd for Winslow. If that’s the case, then it’s a GREAT trade for the Browns.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:58 PM
and, for the record, i loved k2. but he was on borrowed time.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:58 PM
Is this a real person?
February 27th, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Nah, I deserved that Irish. If the Saints ever left Nawlins and won superbowl afterwards, I would be pissed off to the highest levels of pissitivity.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:00 PM
I don’t expect people in Columbus to know about their hockey team, let alone a Cinci fan
February 27th, 2009 at 1:00 PM
im just fucking with you Clowns fans. You guys know i like Winslow for obvious reasons
February 27th, 2009 at 1:01 PM
Winslow cant block
I also blame him for all that damn staph shit up here.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:02 PM
the U? I’m sure the Saints would have given the Bucs a TE from the U for nothing. Fucking Shockey.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:02 PM
mole-
Don’t you dare say Nash is leaving. They are building something very interesting here in the Capital City.
HUGE win last night against The Oil. Another one in Vancouver Sunday will help as well.
Now, if they’d just get a center to go with Nash…
February 27th, 2009 at 1:02 PM
he plays for the Magic too?
February 27th, 2009 at 1:03 PM

February 27th, 2009 at 1:04 PM

KC might get a team, but it certainly isn’t the one in Columbus. There are about 10 franchises that are WAYYYY worse off than the Jackets right now.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:08 PM
Does this open up the possibility of Lebron James as TE for the Browns?
February 27th, 2009 at 1:10 PM
It better be a 2nd at least
February 27th, 2009 at 1:10 PM
good one, ruck.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:12 PM
That too! Huntington Park looks sweet from the upper floors of my building downtown. Can’t wait to catch some ball in the summer months by walking from work!
February 27th, 2009 at 1:13 PM
Yep, LSU basketball team is really taking off. Add that to a great recruiting class for the football team, and things are looking up. What part of Baton Rouge do you live in?
February 27th, 2009 at 1:14 PM
Im just busting your balls. I don’t know what their financial situation is, but I am somewhat shocked their attendance is still bottom five in the league when they have a good young team. Phoenix and Nashville would be my bet.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Winner.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:21 PM
Its almost a yearly occurrence where an Ohio team makes the U its personal bitch. Didn’t take long in 09.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:26 PM
Wow, that came late and was unwarranted.
It reminds me of a penalty in a certain bowl game…

what the fuck does this mean?
February 27th, 2009 at 1:26 PM
I thought Nashville had decent attendance? I could see one of the Florida teams moving before the Blue Jackets.
February 27th, 2009 at 1:31 PM
cmon duder, back up your stupid comment
February 27th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
nicely done, clown. +1
February 27th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
Irish hes talking about the Miami vs. Ohio State game where McClinton slapped someone and got kicked out and they lost. He is also referring to the Natl’ title they stole in the fiesta bowl. Fuck Ohio.

Looks like a 2nd round pick this year and 5th round pick next year for Winslow.
