Jim Bowden: When All Else Fails, Blame the Media
Baseball March 2nd. 2009, 5:15pm
After more than four years and several disasters, Jim Bowden has exited staged left with tears in his eyes as GM of the bumbling, nobody-cares Nationals.
“I will also carry with me the cold hard realization that my life has been turned upside down by a news media that prints entire stories attributed solely to anonymous sources who refuse to be identified and who are free to allege anything they choose for any purpose without fear of retribution.”
We’ll probably be in three fantasy baseball leagues this year. It’s looking less and less likely that a Washington National will be selected among the first 100 players. That’s some legacy Bowden’s leaving behind. Good luck against the FBI.

Let’s count the ways AIG can screw us all.
I’ll start. The Dow is at 6700, and lost much of its value today because of … AIG.
On the upside, for this to be as bad as the Great depression, the Dow will have to go below 2000 …

Jason Taylor cut by Redskins. So much for Haynesworth helping extend his career.

Adam Dunn won’t be among the top 100 players? Can I come steal some money from those leagues?

If you want to win a World Series, stock up on players on TBL’s fantasy team.

Nothing on PFT. They won’t give NFP the credit. Watch. They’ll quote one of their own “sources.”

I was just going to say that the Raiders will take him, if they unload Walker’s giant, useless contract. Can’t remember what kind of cap hit they take on it, but it’s sizeable.

can someone explain to me the National Football Post?
who operates it?

NFP is run by former agents and personnel guys. Lombardi, the head writer, used to work with the Pats, Browns, and Raiders. They have a bit of a feud with PFT. Pretty amusing:
“As Florio would know if he had any genuine experience, to get a team interested in making a trade there has to be some form of selling the player before the transaction may actually happen. This exchange occurs with every team and in every trade ever made in the NFL. Had Mike Florio ever actually had experience in being part of a trade in the NFL, he would know this was not an act of treason but acting like an NFL executive. When I traded wide receiver Doug Gabriel to the Patriots for a fifth-round pick the prior year, does Florio believe I told Belichick that Gabriel couldn’t play prior to commencing the trade? It is hard to know the point that Florio was trying to make.”

Mike Lombardi, former GM of the Raiders. Much better source for NFL information than Florio, a lawyer who actually hates the NFL and doesn’t try to hide it.

Clayton has it, too.

Yup, he credits Clayton and Michael Smith of ESPN only. That’s funny.
