Stephen Strasburg is the BEST Prospect in MLB History
Baseball March 13th. 2009, 3:00pmThat’s what a scout who is not prone to hyperbole told ESPN’s Buster Olney.
“You could put him in a rotation right now, and he could be a No. 2 or No. 3 starter,” says the scout. “Right now, he’s better than A.J. Burnett.”
A primer on Strasburg, who has already been compared to Dwight Gooden: He’s a 6-foot-4 junior at San Diego State, has topped out at 102 on the gun, and after throwing 20.1 innings so far this season, 45 of his 61 outs are via the strikeout.
Nationals fans rejoice! Your savior is here!
Oh, wait. He’s a Scott Boras client. So sorry! Boras will be content sending his client to Seattle, which could have a fierce rotation (Felix Hernandez, Erik Bedard) in two years.
Is Strasburg the best prospect ever? (ESPN)

Brandon Morrow will be a better pitcher than Erik Bedard in two years.

I don’t think the Nats screw this one up. They’ll draft him then go cheap on pick #7 (or #8, can’t remember).

His mechanics look like an injury waiting to happen. His elbow shouldn’t be above his shoulder like that. A lot of pitchers throw like that, and a lot of them have arm troubles. He has Prior like mechanics, how is that working out for Mark?

looks like yelnik read the same link that neyer had that i did. Nats will sign him, they’re getting murdered in the PR dept locally, and need to sign him at just about any price to keep the fans happy. Boras is going to kill them in this negotiation.

The best prospects ever are obviously Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez. You have to deliver first. Having said that, I’ll still take Tim Lincecum, thank you very much.

Mark Prior would wave Hi but his arm is in a sling.
