What an amazing game last night! The Cavs won in PHX for the first time in 10 years!
/college what?
March 13th, 2009 at 8:18 AM
Not that I have an allegiance t either school (but damn if I hate the over-coverage of UConn in CT!!!!) but I just about smashed the tv when Harris missed his 6th pointblank layup or dunk. Didn’t the bastard know we have to work today!
March 13th, 2009 at 8:19 AM
outstanind photo to start the day!
March 13th, 2009 at 8:20 AM
that should be “outstanding.” i haven’t had my coffee yet.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:23 AM
Uh, mission accomplished.
As for Kristen Cavallari…I wonder how much she hates Lauren Conrad…when Laguna Beach was on, Kristen was the breakout star of that show, and I sure she figured she was moving on to mega-stardom. LC was just another chick on the show Now she’s a forgotten D-list celeb (if that…although she is A-list hot), while LC is a genuine A-lister with the most popular show in the MTV’s history.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:24 AM
cavallari > LC
everyday, and twice on sundays
March 13th, 2009 at 8:26 AM
Fuck that bitch. It shouldn’t count anyway because it’s on a bullshit par 3 executive course.
/thankfully I already have one.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:26 AM
I am in complete agreement. Which makes my above comments all the more painful.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:31 AM
@tampabo: didn’t know you lived at home
March 13th, 2009 at 8:33 AM
I’ll take LC. Anybody else hear the guy on Sportscenter call A.J. Price “Prince” like four times during the SU-UConn highlights? Even he was worn the fuck out.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:34 AM
props to the troopers who stuck around last night for the game and banter
March 13th, 2009 at 8:35 AM
watching jon stewart destroy jim cramer was the most satisfying video i have ever watched at work.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:36 AM
Lefty the short game genius. (Tuna Golf)
spencer: good read. let’s hope Lefty doesn’t try to “outcreate himself”, like he has been known to do and finishes the deal.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:41 AM
For as great as Lefty’s short game is, I’ve never understood how he can miss so many short putts. Obviously, it didn’t happen yesterday, but Phil misses way too many 2 to 5-footers for someone with the touch he possesses.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:47 AM
Jon Stewart >>>> Jim Cramer
For those that missed The Daily Show last night…watch it today or on-line. Was definately worth watching. Stewart absolutely killed Cramer.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:48 AM
Anyone feeling bad about their golf game, make sure to watch the “Haney Project” on the Golf Channel.
Cant believe I stayed up and watched that game till 1:30. I usually reserve those late weeknights for OT in the NHL playoffs.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:53 AM
Absolutely. And you should watch it here.

March 13th, 2009 at 8:53 AM
LC > KC all day all night
March 13th, 2009 at 8:57 AM
Yep, I’m watching the Cramer thing now, and I’m really impressed by Stewart. I honestly thought, when I heard about it, that’d it be pretty normal, but he really gives it to Cramer and Cramer has no response. And Cramer is a smart guy.
March 13th, 2009 at 8:58 AM
is anyone doing anything non-basketball related this weekend? passing on all things st. patrick’s this weekend, will booze it up during the week
March 13th, 2009 at 9:01 AM
Yep I’m going to be drinking Guinness at home and watching the tourneys. I just hope I have a game to watch after tonight with the vols.
Also, KC>LC, but I’d shag both of their spoiled little heads off.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:02 AM
Roeth…i blame dave pelz’, phil’s short game “consultant,” school of thought for missing the short putts. pelz, for some reason, has bashed into phil’s head that, every miss he has has to be 17 inches from the cup. if you’ve played the game, you know that just thinking about a miss will most likely result in one…
and yea, i dunno if phil can keep it up, but yesterday was outrageous. hopefully he took his ritalin.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:03 AM
Sean Jean – Yeah, it’s one of the best interviews I’ve seen in a while, and it’s on a damn comedy show. The best part by far:

March 13th, 2009 at 9:06 AM
Thats not me I promise.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:07 AM
RDT4: Yeah he has a great take on his impression of the market, and it seems to really catch Cramer off guard, because he is really nailing what was happening. The look and response of Cramer is exactly what someone looks like when they’ve been caught red-handed.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:07 AM
Its cool that a game went to 6 OTs but the inability for UConn to get off a good shot when the game was on the line was embarassing. 5 straight OTs on the last possession with the game tied they take horrible long range jump shots? Cuse has 1st rd upset written all over them.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
Sean Jean – That’s exactly what I saw too. He broke Cramer down badly. Got him to admit, on the record, that he was wrong and was too late in saying so. Those Internet clips of Cramer that Stewart found were absolute gold for him. No way to wiggle out of that. I was also glad that Cramer didn’t go all Buzz Bissinger and flip the hell out when he had no legitimate argument. Great stuff all around.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
Oh…so it’s Irish, then?
I kid, I kid.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:19 AM
Pitt losing was the best thing that could’ve happened to them.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:24 AM
An A-lister? Seriously? C’mon now. She rates with Pitt, Jolie, Aniston, Roberts, Cruise, Smith? Anything with M-TV history and A-list is automatically an oxymoron.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:27 AM
Haha, I agree. Not that some MTV stuff isn’t good, but never could anything on that channel vault someone to A-list status (unless we lower that bar).
March 13th, 2009 at 9:32 AM
John Sencio and Dan Cortese are A-listers
March 13th, 2009 at 9:33 AM
Whatever that score is…Q-score, I think, had LC as the 4th most recognizable female entertainment figure in 2008 across all age groups. She appeared on more magazine covers in 2008 than ANY OTHER celebrity.
LC certainly doesn’t have the box-office cachet of any of those film stars you mentioned, but she permeates present pop culture as much, or nearly as much, as any you mentioned. A-list is pretty much being re-defined. LC is A-list, it’s really not a debatable point.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:39 AM
And please don’t take my above comments as endorsing LC as a deserving celebrity…
March 13th, 2009 at 9:47 AM
I hope like hell you don’t. If the Gators can somehow get by Auburn I don’t want to see UT waiting for them. Unfortunately Pearl just owns Donovan. Even during the back to back titles we lost 3/4 to him with the 1 being Donovan’s only win against Pearl.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:49 AM
@Irish
Im doing the same damn thing. windstorm blew two of mine off this week. i hate ladders
March 13th, 2009 at 9:54 AM
Who, exactly, got it right?
Stewart is a fraud. We all know what this is really about, right?
March 13th, 2009 at 10:27 AM
good point. real easy to play monday morning quarterback.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Let me guess, MikeNYC is the blowhard conservative apologist on this site?
March 13th, 2009 at 10:42 AM
If you didn’t get your political and financial “news” from Comedy Central, you’d probably know that Cramer is a liberal.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:43 AM
people giving financial advice should take responsibility for the information they give. it’s buyer beware when you take advice from someone who rolls his sleeves up like that and smacks sound effect buttons to make a point, but it’s not like he’s giving fantasy football advice.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:48 AM

I agree, people are forgetting that this guy gives free advice.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:54 AM
True story. He has zero fiduciary duty to people watching on TV.
March 13th, 2009 at 11:04 AM
Only MikeNYC would spin this to the point where Stewart is the bad guy. Wow.
March 13th, 2009 at 11:06 AM
My whole thing with mocking Cramer is that people who slamming him don’t understand personal finance.
Cramer may be wrong a lot on his show, but he’s giving sound advice for investing; look at the yields and balance sheets. Collect that quarterly .30 cents/share from your blue chips and don’t give two shits whether or not it loses 50% of its bid price.
He also preaches diversification amongst equities, and to have savings consisting of cash in simple ING or TD Bank savings accounts.
March 13th, 2009 at 11:23 AM
I feel like Cramer is catching a lot of shit that isn’t necessarily on him. His show is interesting to watch and he does have good points about how to actually make money in the market. That being said, Stewart’s overriding point is so damn true. CNBC is a financial news network, yet, they stand by and let all the CEOs lie to them.
March 13th, 2009 at 12:10 PM
I have issues with this sentiment.
CNBC, MSNBC, FOX News, Bloomberg, heck ESPNEWS—these are all cable news outlets. They all have guests on. They all have analysts and pundits. It’s akin to an op-ed piece or editorial in a newspaper. Are these news outlets only supposed to run AP wire stories 24/7 and read Reuters stories off a prompter? No, of course not. They are allowed to give opinions, but you have to clearly delineate what is news, what is reporting, and what is opinion.
And Cramer’s show is obviously opinion.
/ombudsmen’d
March 13th, 2009 at 12:39 PM
@Bottomless:
if that’s the case, each network should put a disclaimer before and during each segment with an analyst.
the problem is, a lot of these networks are getting away from reporting the news as is (letting the viewer develop their own opinion based on fact) and instead giving more opinions based on little fact. See CNN’s “Best Political team on TV” during the elections, ESPN’s army of analysts on their shows.
March 13th, 2009 at 12:43 PM
Why, because the viewers are too fucking dumb to determine on their own that what he says is his opinion and not gospel?
Have any of you ever lost money in the market after paying for financial advice from Jim Cramer? No?
Then kindly STFU, do your own research, and make your own calls.
March 13th, 2009 at 12:49 PM
Just because it’s opinion doesn’t mean you don’t need facts. His show may be opinion based and meant to entertain, it’s also meant to inform and educate. Everyone’s confusing the interview as Cramer vs. Stewart, when it’s really Stewart vs. CNBC. There’s a big difference.
You can’t say you’re the leading business network that does hard-hitting investigative reporting and then cop out and say, “Hey, they lied to us. It wasn’t our fault.”
As for Cramer, he has to be held accountable for his stock recommendations to some degree. He’s been claiming that you watch his show to make money. Listen to him and make money. He’s built an entire franchise (books, TSCM, shows, TV/movie appearances) as the guy who tells you how to make money. Then when shit hits the fan, all of a sudden it’s, “Oh, but he’s mainly just for entertainment. It’s your fault for listening to him.”
March 13th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
having promotions that this guy is the end all, be all of financial guru’s doesn’t help dispell the notion it’s his opinion and to take it with a grain of salt.
I’m on your side. what i don’t agree with is networks passing this kind of stuff off as 100 % factual. yes, buyer beware, but don’t mislead the buyer in the process.
