Redick was simply never as good of a shooter as everyone said. Check out his stats from college:

He was a great FT shooter and a great college scorer but to expect him to turn into a Jason Kapono type (a far superior shooter) was always wishful thinking.

Where do the JJ comparisons come from? Guy who scores a lot in North Carolina? Why not the next Joe Forte then? Or Rashard McCants?
JJ (who is better than both those prolific UNC scorers) shoots a nice 39% from 3. Not sure what kind of player everyone expected him to be but a 10-15 min guy who can hit 3’s seems about right.
