College Football’s “Competitive Disadvantage”
College Football, Politics March 26th. 2009, 5:45pm
Congress must have some closet Utah fans or they’re just trying to suck up to the President:
The current system “leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year,” the Senate Judiciary’s subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights said in a statement Wednesday announcing the hearings.
While we loathe the idiot of the paper-pushers in Washington getting involved in these matters … Playoff! Playoff! Playoff!

Apparently to Republicans wasting time doing a college basketball bracket is a sin but wasting tax payer money screwing around with college football is a-okay.

Tallguy thinks what we have now in college football, or what we have had for at least 75 years now in the US (removal of gold under penalty of law) is “capitalism”? Bottom line, this solution will be capitalistic in nature, for a playoff would force consistently lame-ass bigger conferences like the Big Ten and the Big East to compete with quality teams from smaller conferences for choice spots in a playoff. The current system is oligarchic not capitalist. Also beware of ESPN f*ucking it all up like anything else they get their hands on (NBA, MNF, et cetera)

Yelnik – do some homework brother. You would be involved as well if it meant millions of dollars to a state university within your constituency. I guess you are like the rest of the libs…very little experience in the private sector. From what I have seen in the NCAA hoops tourney this year – a BCS playoff would blow this basketball product out of the water.
Put a little effort into your comments next time before you spout that garbage.
