Cutler? Brad Childress Seems Content with T Jack and Sage
1-liner, NFL April 1st. 2009, 6:15pmJay Cutler Saga: The QB-poor Minnesota Vikings don’t seem interested in Denver’s Jay Cutler according to coach Brad Childress. “‘I don’t see it as in shambles,’ Childress said [of the QB situation]. ‘Now, do you want improvement there? Yeah. We always know that the laser is going to get pointed at the quarterback. But I don’t feel that way. I feel like we’ve upgraded with a guy like Sage, and I think that those two guys will compete. … Would we love to have a guy that could be a 10-year starter? Yeah, we would … I think we’ve got a younger, Gus Frerotte-type guy [in Rosenfels] with knowledge in the system that Gus didn’t have. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a 31-year-old quarterback that’s more athletic than Gus.’” Too bad Adrian Peterson has to have such a nincompoop for a head coach. (Star Tribune)

God, I’m glad I’m not a Vikings fan.

Did you really say nincompoop? I had to double check and make sure my grandmother didn’t write this post.

Did he have on a straight face while delivering that joke? It was pretty good.

The only situation more dire in the Vikings organization than quarterback is head coach.

reason # 340 why the vikes will never win a superbowl

I hate him more than I hate Roy Williams. Trade your whole frickin draft for Cutler if you need to. Oh well, hopefully this gets Childress out after next year.

does Cutler’s contract suck or something? I can’t believe Childress wouldn’t be interested.

i dont think you can have a bad contract if you’re a franchise qb..its the vikings head coach who sucks

A lot of anger towards Childress.
Let me hear one reasonable offer MIN could make that would cause DEN to even listen.

The fact that you’re using the word “upgrade” and “sage rosenfel” in the same breath and you don’t recognize a problem shows that you’ve lost touch with reality.

Cutler’s contract is great for the next three years, but Bus Cook is almost certainly going to exist on a contract extension with whomever he’s traded to. That’s likely the real reason behind all this mess, Cook wanting a fat commission and pulling Cutler’s strings. McDaniels’ pursuit of Cassel just gave him the ammunition. It’s about money, it’s always about money.

2 first round draft picks and a defensive lineman and a linebacker..reasonable enough?
April 1st, 2009 at 6:32 PM
Actually sponge his contract is fantastic, I think he on the books for like only 1 mill this year. However, I think its a forgone conclusion that whoever signs him is going to have to give him a huge new deal, prob somewhere around 8yr 120mil. Even the Teflon NFL is worried about cash right now and a smaller market kind of team like Min probably has no interest in taking on a contract like that.

a couple picks and sage rosenfels. Broncos have the 12th pick and could probably get sanchez/stafford there.
April 1st, 2009 at 6:40 PM
Maybe I’ll be proven wrong, but I can’t see the Broncos getting much more than a usable linebacker and a second or third for him. Between the likely ocntract demands and the very public need to sell, I just don’t see a real bidding war here.

That’s exactly the problem….nincompoop

One of the willaims DT’s, Tavarris or Sage plus a #1 and #2. If Denver actually thinks they are getting 2 #1’s good luck to them. If they get some idiot owner to agree than I’ll eat crow but I highly doubt they will get 2 #1 picks for a guy that is going to demand a new (and large) contact.
