Kentucky Derby Odds Are On, Wager Accordingly
1-liner, Horse Racing April 29th. 2009, 5:00pmKentucky Derby: We’ll have more on the first leg of the Triple Crown from a big horse racing fan Friday (he’s not quite last year’s horse racing handicapper, Jerry O’Connell, but we all can’t be rich and famous and have a actress/model wife and get invited on the Howard Stern show), but the odds for this weekend’s race are in. We know absolutely nothing about the field (less than zero, in fact), but we’ll go with Hold Me Back.

Going with the pick a horse that sounds like a name a guy would give his dick strategy, my money is on Mr. Hot Stuff followed by Chocolate Candy.

Saw Mr. Hot Stuff lose to Poneer of the Nile @ Santa Anita by a couple of lengths. He might not be a bad bet @ 30-1.

if you’ve never done it, you tube Secretariat running the Belmont. It’s a great way to spend 2 1/2 minutes.
My parents in law were here last year for the Derby, and my mother in law picked a horse (the 9) that was destined to lose, and she knew it when she picked. She rooted the whole time. Then Eight Bells happened, and she stood up and yelled at my TV for a long time about how much she hates horse racing and how it’s cruel and all that, and how she’s been against it forever, tantamount to dogfighting, etc.
Guess who’s coming up this weekend, too. Sometimes, my life sucks.

Another great race is the ‘89 Preakness between Sunday Silence and Easy Goer. It was the first race I actually remember, and still to this day the most exciting i’ve seen.
