Allegations from Selena Roberts’ awaited A-Rod book were leaked to the media. Here are the more prurient details.

* Rodriguez allegedly has been using steroids since high school. Former high-school teammates believe he was using and that his coach knew about it.

This can be taken as fact, because high schools have never been shown to be dens of purely baseless speculation.

* He put on 25 lbs between his sophomore and junior years of high school.

This is obviously evidence of steroid abuse because male bodies don’t naturally grow or mature rapidly between the ages of 16 and 18.  Oh wait…

* Jose Canseco, whose accuracy stems from personal witnessing of usage NOT SPECULATION, thought he was using that early, based on how much he was lifting.

Roberts also alleges that A-Rod has been using PEDs throughout his career and with the Yankees.  One anonymous major leaguer claims to have seen A-Rod and Kevin Brown with HGH in 2004.  Brown denies it.

* Anonymous Yankees claim that A-Rod’s nickname in the clubhouse was “Bitch Tits” after he developed round pectoral muscles in 2005, possibly but not definitively gynecomastia, a possible side-effect of anabolic steroid use.

* When A-Rod was with Texas, he allegedly tipped pitches to opposing batters in blowout games, believing they would do the same for him.

* Hooters waitresses allegedly don’t like him because they think he is a bad tipper.

Perhaps, there is a hammer lying latent in the book. But, based on the allegations leaked, Roberts’ evidence of performance enhancing drug use appears to be entirely hearsay. There’s nothing that proves he definitively did more than he previously admitted.

We also find more testimony that he is a jerk and unlikeable. Most of us were reasonably confident in that assumption beforehand.

A man could be groomed, well-dressed, speak with a lisp and enjoy the musical stylings of Barbara Streisand. That does not, necessarily, mean he is gay.
