Ew. I think she may be too skinny, I looked real quick and thought it was Ann Coulter..

Link doesn’t work.
And, why don’t you think they can sign him? Everything I’ve read says they are willing to spend the 50 mil or whatever the cost.

hey whatever it takes to get them competitive. i hope it works out for them

Amen. He needs to take another trip to Vegas. I always found those stories much more entertaining than anything sports related he wrote.

Wasn’t the Derby good? I DVR’ed it, and expected a 15 minute commitment. I ended up using it to fill my Boston/Chicago halftime, so I didn’t have to listen to anybody talk.

The New York Times taking a hardline approach with the unions — gotta love it!
May 4th, 2009 at 8:30 AM
Also, I hope those Audi jerkoffs died.

I know you love doom and gloom, TBL, but a January article on Ireland’s economy? Good article, but maybe slightly dated.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:40 AM
you need more curves to pull off those stretchy type deal dresses.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:43 AM
good point, GYD. was reading about Ireland (potential trip later this year) and should have gone with a more recent link.
link changed

Same clowns who thought Okafor should have been drafted before Howard
May 4th, 2009 at 8:46 AM
seem to remember Ireland was heavily cited during the election as a model economic structure for businesses in regards to the low tax rates on businesses. interesting.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:50 AM
i was one of those clowns. okafor was coming off a title (i believe), an accomplished college career, and Howard was a high schooler.

Yeah, because he won’t start writing about the Sawx the second they’re eliminated.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:55 AM
Simmons doesnt really write much about the Sox anymore. After the Celtics get eliminated, he’ll still write about the rest of the NBA playoffs, that’s his sport. We might get one baseball article before October.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:56 AM
Just stop reading the no-talent ass-clown.
May 4th, 2009 at 8:57 AM
That’s exactly what I said. My second job is as an NBA Scout.

He’ll probably still write about the playoffs, but it will still be in the context of “what could have been” (a.k.a. with Garnett)

Maybe I’m really stupid, but I want to know what Dwight Howard does that doesn’t make him a center. Patrol the paint, last line of defense on the rim. Rebounds the ball and scores a majority of his points inside. Isn’t that what a center does. Please, somebody correct me if I’m wrong.
/not being sarcastic, I really can’t find anything else that takes away from Howard being a center.

Between Steven Strasburg and the 4 no-hit guy in Florida, I have never seen this much hype in one season with non-MLB pitchers. I’m not old enough to remember David Clyde, and I think it passed Todd Van Poppel.
Scott Boras must have something to do with it.

We’ll see if Thabeet ever averages 21 and 14 per game like Howard.

It doesn’t matter. If you get a shot at a 7-footer with talent, you take him. Period.

Am I the only one who thinks Thabeet will be a massive bust? He doesn’t have a single post move and he let a guy like Blair (6′7″..maybe) dominate him at one point. What is going to do against guys who are much closer in size and are much stronger? I see him as a good shot blocker who won’t rebound as he should. Do you really draft that at #2.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
dont think Thabeet will average 21-14. i could see 17-14-3, though.

Still has to go a ways to reach “Greg Jefferies is the next great hitter” status.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:13 AM
I’ve reached the point where I really think you ignore the 7-footer unless he has other-worldly talent like Shaq/Hakeem/Ewing.
Based on his college career, I wouldn’t put Thabeet in that category.

great golf tournament yesterday…even better course. quail hollow rocks.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:18 AM
Burying a St. Joe statue is old news when it comes to selling a house. This would probably work better.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:18 AM
Sounds like Timmy.
Also, who cares if Thabeet never develops a post move?
Great/Will-be-great post players who had/have dogshit offensive games.
Dikembe, Ben Wallace, Rodman, Camby, Varejao, Noah.
Defense is half the game.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:22 AM
There’s no proof those idiots in the Audi actually crashed. They turned it off just as they started to “freak out.” Could be totally staged. I’m not convinced.

But you can’t be an offensive liability and justify going 1-3 in the draft.

@Jay: But you can be a defensive liability and justify the same?
/Adam Morrison
/Aldridge
/Iverson
/Durant
/on and on
May 4th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
No. I guess it just depends on what you need on your team. Usually the teams that can take on the liability and not suffer aren’t picking at the top of the lottery.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:37 AM
Anderson Varejao deserved to be a top 3 pick. Allen Iverson, not so much.

A defensive minded, quality center can change your whole team philosophy. If Thabeet can average 3 blocks a game(which is actually a lot) then he’s probably affecting dozens of shots per game. If that’s true, then you can tailor your defense around funnelling drives right at him (a la Tim Duncan and the Spurs) and making everyone shoot wrong footed runners.
Best case scenario, a defense only player playing center who doesn’t foul a lot can make a team great on one end. Then, if you can pair him with some scorers, and a good garbage man, you’re really got the beginnings of something.
May 4th, 2009 at 9:53 AM
Take Morrison out of this list and 90% of the GMs in the NBA would want any of the rest in their prime.
Varejao and Noah are “will-be-great” post players??
Wallace had two good years and that was it.
