Manny’s Substance: Sexual Enhancer?* [ESPN Names Drug: HCG]

Done laughing yet? Yahoo Sports is reporting that the drug that got Manny a 50-game suspension and cost him $7.7 million is a drug to help his sexual enhancement, and it’s not Viagra.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the substance is supposed to boost sex drive. It is not Viagra, but a substance that treats the cause rather providing a temporary boost in sexual performance, the source said.
Of note: The two Yahoo writers previously worked for the LA Times.
UPDATE: Sportscenter just opened with this: the drug Manny took was a “women’s fertility drug, typically used by steroid users to restart their body’s natural testosterone production.”
UPDATE II: TJ Quinn of ESPN just named the drug: HCG. Read about it here. It doesn’t look good for Manny.

i tentatively disagree.
it’s one thing to have the bullets, another to have the gun. you can’t assume that, because manny is using something to recover from steroid use, that he actually used steroids. you need proof that he used actual performance enhancing substances, not just a masking agent.
he’s still probably going to be suspended, but we still don’t have any performance enhancing smoking gun.

McGwire had nothing but refusal to answer Congress questions the way people wanted. Bonds only has “I thought I was taking flaxseed oil”. That’s neither bullets or gun. Manny is taking medicine to grow his nuts back. I honestly think that A-rod and Manny should be treated worse than the people that it was just “rumors” about. And it should be worse because Bonds were at the end of their careers, A-rod is just at the halfway point. Manny should have about 5 years left.

I was a huge Barry Bonds fan, and I thought he was treated like he was the “evil that tried to kill baseball” not because of the steroids, but because he was an asshole towards media types. Same with Clemens. My thing is A-rod is “just weird” and “Manny is just being Manny, he doesn’t know any better” is very hypocritical of the media. They are so angry about steroids ruining the game, but they don’t care about Pettite who admitted he cheated and is still playing. If they want to scream bloody murder for some, they better be the same way for all.

spencer: I never chewed until I went to bum-fuck Indiana for college, and then didn’t do it until Sophmore year. I then did Skoal, Cope, RedMan, Beech nut, you have it for 4 years, and then, all of a sudden, I started getting migraines that started as soon as the dip went in my mouth. I did it three more times (I’m stupid and wanted to make sure it wasn’t a coincidence), and then had to stop cold turkey. Haven’t done it since, but for those 4 years, it was constant.
