I’m going to need 3 years of data, otherwise this year is just a statistical anomaly.

If you don’t accept a statistic based upon 450 games of samples then is any conclusion from any sports season any more that a statistical anomaly?

I hope these wins keep making the Cavs cockier; they’re in for a rude awakening in the Finals, a la 2008 Lakers.

Aside from the fact that the Cavs have a leader that wont allow that, and that his teammates actually like, and who won’t completely quit on them in a deciding game, yes, they are just like the 2008 Lakers.

However I don’t think they will make the Finals, their front court is weak. Cavs have been un-stoppable at home all year. And whoever plays them in the finals will probably have to win 2 on the Cavs home floor. This will be just one of many titles for LBJ.

That being said, there’s no way the Cavs would be running through opponents if they were in the West. Beating the likes of the Rockets, Blazers, and (surprisingly) the Nuggets in the regular season is one thing, but 1. playoff intensity is much greater and 2. those teams would not just lay down for the Cavs to roll over.

I still think the Lakers will make the playoffs, but they are being tested early, which is a good thing. I think the difference btwn the Celtics and the Lakers last year was the fact that the Celtics underachieved against inferior teams, while the Lakers continually overachieved against teams that were just as good as them (Jazz, Spurs).

I hope these wins keep making the Cavs cockier; they’re in for a rude awakening in the Finals, a la 2008 Lakers.

Atlanta didn’t get a chance to play the 6 teams in the Western Conference that won less than 30 games each. Atlanta might have won 50 games by beating up on those guys 4-6 times each too…

The West’s playoff teams look great until you dig deeper. The East had a better record against the West this year.

Cleveland playing Atlanta in the 2nd round is a reward for having the best record in the NBA. This is reason 1 why having the best record in the East this year was so important… avoiding Boston and Orlando in round 2 is huge.
