Knicks Make a Promise to Draft Stephen Curry 8th?
NBA Draft May 11th. 2009, 4:30pm
According to NBAdraft.net, the Knicks – who don’t even know where they’ll be picking in next month’s draft – have told Davidson guard Stephen Curry that if he’s around at No. 8, he’s their guy. Are the Knicks the reason he entered the draft in the first place?
We’ve received word that there could be truth to this from inside sources claiming that Curry chose to put his name into the draft this year based on the Knicks assuring Curry that they would use their lottery selection to draft him.
As the site points out, Curry could potentially thrive in D’Antoni’s up-tempo, run-and-jump game. And it’s no secret the Knicks need a point guard. Current PG Chris Duhon has just one year left on his deal; even though he can’t shoot nearly as well as Curry, he could tutor the kid for a year.
There’s a decision to be made about Nate Robinson (it’s either him or the league’s 3rd leading rebounder, double-double machine David Lee), but clearly, the Knicks backcourt is terribly thin. (Larry Hughes will enjoy his $13 million next year and then find a retirement facility that suits his needs.) It’s all about 2010, baby.
How about Curry and LeBron in the starting lineup in 2010?

Why are the pictures so small and disjointed?

if curry’s in the lineup, lebron will be elsewhere…
because curry is gonna suck in the pros, you see?

Spence if Aaron Brooks can succeed Curry has a chance.

Clearly a move pandering to Lebron.
Memo to the Knicks: just because Lebron gave Curry his cell# doesn’t mean he wants to play with a shoot first, weak pg. Unless of course Lebron can share his HGH connection with Curry.

why would you even want duhon to “tutor” your lottery pick?

you’ve seen aaron brooks play, right? he’s lightyears faster than curry.
im still have no idea what LBJ is gonna do, but i have a feeling he’ll be in cleveland after 2010. i just don’t trust the knicks ownership and donnie walsh to suddenly succeed at jobs they were terrible at for long stretches of time.
especially not when cleveland is a) actually good and b) just as well set up from a basketball-money standpoint.
curry’s not going to influence this one fucking iota.

Lebron ain’t leaving Cleveland

I’m just saying size is everyone’s knock on Curry. But in the D’Antoni Offense he could be dangerous.

Aaron Brooks can run circles around Curry. If you saw them both play in college Brooks can handle the ball and get into the lane because of his superior quickness. Curry’s shooting is a bit better than Brooks, but not by much. But Brooks ballhandling is so much better than Curry it’s a joke.

Lebron ain’t leaving Cleveland
this wasn’t my thought at the beginning of the year, but im really starting to think this is true. if anyone knows lebron, hes a home body who still loves to spend time in Akron and with his boys from the area. Bron can screw around here and no one would say anything cuz he walks on water….why does Lebron wanna deal with page 6 in New York on a shitty team….i dont understand why he would leave.
May 11th, 2009 at 4:56 PM
if i was lebron, i’d leave.
NYC for a 25 year old who has 9 figures in the bank? fuck basketball. then again, im a jaded clevelander with one foot out the door.

The millisecond he gets there they won’t be a shitty team. I hope he doesn’t leave. He can certainly get himself into the debate as one of the top 3 or 4 guys ever in Cleveland, and the endorsements that are supposed to be dragging him toward Madison Avenue seem to be getting to him just fine in Cleveland.
Plus, from what I understand, the city’s entire economy is based on him. And, you can buy a house for the price of a VCR.

Oh, and on topic, 8 is just fine with me for Steph Curry, especially in a weak draft. Even if he can only come in and shoot open shots, those shots come to players on teams that move the ball
how about eddie house as a comparison point? That guy can shoot. I know he’s not worth pick # 8, but hopefully curry is better.

why is this a ‘weak draft?’
May 11th, 2009 at 5:32 PM
The Cavs need to win it all this year for him to stay. If they don’t win it this year, next year is a letdown season and then he’s gone.

Never been to Cleveland, huh?

K-Mart is going to beat the shit out of Mark Cuban.
May 11th, 2009 at 5:47 PM
Yes he is. I like Cuban as an owner but I think he needs to learn to seperate himself from what’s happening on the court. He keeps saying and doing stupid things.
May 11th, 2009 at 8:05 PM
I agree with everything you say, triston, except for the spelling of separate.
May 12th, 2009 at 2:34 AM
Because Steph Curry is considered a lottery pick.

if thabeet is a top 3 pick u know its a weak draft
