Just heard the ‘Happy Youngster’ on the radio talking about the proceedings. He sounded reasonable.

I think they were going to offer him another ball or something at first, then he asked for the bats, signed “To Nick” (that way they don’t think he’s trying to sell them on eBay or something). The team kinda jerked him around and he decided to hang onto the ball. A team rep apparently promised him he’d meet Coghlan and Ramirez after the game and they’d do the switch then.

Can’t we make a ruling here? If you’re a fan and you catch a home run ball and the hitter wants it back, shouldn’t he have to give something up other than a ball? Maybe a signed bat? Personal picture?

Fuck, is the Marlins franchise REALLY tight for cash?

I have to go the other way on this. I understand the kid is a douche. But, he has something of value, he has the right to exploit it.

What if I go to a game and catch that ball. It’s the only time I am ever going to catch a home run in my life. I’m not going to let it go for free either.
