Do you remember when Eric Mangini’s nickname was “Mangenius?”  Yeah, me neither.  The new Browns coach is off to a spectacular start with his peculiar brand of man management.

He reportedly pissed off every rookie on the team by de facto forcing them on a 10-hour bus trip (there and back)to Hartford, Conn. to work at his football camp.

“It’s voluntary, but’s it’s B.S. voluntary,” said one source. “These players are fighting for starting jobs and playing time. What are they supposed to do, say ‘no, I’m not going?”’

It is nice that Mangini runs a camp for underprivileged children.  But forcing someone from any walk of life on a ten hour bus trip is torture.  There is nothing less bonding than being crammed on a bus with other humans for the better part of the day.  I would imagine it’s worse if you are an oversized professional football player.

Having to move to Cleveland is awful enough.  Do they really need to be forced on an endless bus journey to the only worse medium-sized city in the country, Hartford?  Mangini can’t afford to pay a couple grind to fly them?

If only they had drafted Andre Smith so I could make a joke about finding hotel rooms for his manservants.

I see this Browns season ending well.
