Stanley Cup, NBA Finals, Belmont, French Open, Oh My!
Horse Racing, NBA, NHL, Tennis June 5th. 2009, 5:30pm
Before we get into the weekend haps, two items: TBL alum Lee Diekemper’s blog is stirring the pot Tampa, and porn star/gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey appears to be spending time with another athlete, assuming that really is Melky Cabrera (we use “appear” because we’re not sure if a wiry dude wth a bird chest like that can actually be baseball player). Other mildly interesting late Friday thoughts: The NCAA wants bank statements from Renardo Sidney’s family, a humorous look at the sad 1994 NBA draft, and BYU signed an impact football recruit.
Driving the TBL train this weekend: Bearded and boozy MMA lover, Cousins of Ron Mexico. Pepper him with your thoughts, links, opinions (surely you will have some after seeing The Hangover) and observations.
Saturday:
9 am – French Open Women’s final
6:27 pm – Belmont Stakes
8 pm – Stanley Cup Finals, Game 5
Sunday:
9 am – French Open Men’s final
1:07 pm – Roy Halladay pitches against KC.
1:35 pm – Tommy Hanson makes MLB debut pitching for Atlanta.
8 pm – NBA Finals, Game 2

When does college football start?
June 5th, 2009 at 5:39 PM
Among the factors helping sway Heaps to BYU is religion — he is Mormon — though Taylor said he didn’t think that was the deciding factor.
Riiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttt
Heaps, regarded as the top prospect in the state and among the best in the nation, made the announcement in front of a raucous audience at a sports bar in Salt Lake City
What exactly are you allowed to serve at a sports bar in Salt Lake City?
June 5th, 2009 at 5:44 PM
Going to see Hangover tonight. Probably see Up this weekend too. And get trashed for the Stanley cup Final (no s) tomorrow. Woo.
But for now, it’s back to my Tranmere Rovers dynasty on FM

June 5th, 2009 at 7:26 PM
i thought all of our problems would cease to exist when obama got elected…thats what it said on the radio and tv anyway
June 5th, 2009 at 7:29 PM
Just like the lottery, it’s a tax on the stupid.
That being said, I’m fucked when I travel long distances if this happens.
June 5th, 2009 at 7:31 PM
Didn’t anyone notice that Romo and Simpson are both wearing hats?
June 5th, 2009 at 7:38 PM
wonder how long it is before the cowboy blows the $88 million powerball lottery (was $232 mil, but he took the lump sum, which was $118 mil, and then they yank taxes, thus 88)?
after investing it wisely so i never have to work again, and throwing some $ at friends and family … first four purchases are purely selfish, but oh well:
1) this range rover
2) beach house in either miami, a beach in LA, Dewey Beach, a nice part of the jersey shore
3) this porsche (minus the fin)
4) 2-bedroom penthouse in NYC with great views
June 5th, 2009 at 7:39 PM
Those cameras are everywhere in Phoenix and people just don’t speed anymore. The problem is now they’re going to flash people with expired plates and people who are texting while driving. They’re becoming more invasive.
June 5th, 2009 at 7:53 PM
June 5th, 2009 at 7:56 PM

June 5th, 2009 at 8:12 PM
mrejr: I thought you were younger than me? Guess I was wrong
June 5th, 2009 at 8:13 PM
my first purchase would be about 200 acres of land in the middle of no where and then i would build me a personal grocery store and clothing store that is stocked every month with my favorite foods and clothes so i wouldnt have to interact with the outside world(i cant stand people)if i dont want to. and then i would buy me a gigantic tv and multiple vehicles. along with a ps3 with every game made and xbox 360 with every game made.

It should perhaps be some site rule that when a porn star is referenced, the post must include at least one vetted NSFW (as in no sign-up BS and really free) link of her in action.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:04 AM

June 6th, 2009 at 10:47 AM
Spence, are those pro combos forged or cast? I’m currently playing with Titleist 690 CBs that I’ve had for a while, but I’m seriously considering upgrading to these. Once you go forged, you never go back.
June 6th, 2009 at 11:03 AM
the school and people there piss me off.
June 6th, 2009 at 8:33 PM
lefty…they’re forged.
the titleist 690’s are solid, as my avatar suggests, im a fan of pretty much anything titleist. the ZB’s are fucking awesome…im probably upgrading irons next spring and am thinking about making the jump to the full-blades set.
forged irons, when you hit them pure, are unbeatable. mizuno’s feel like butter when you hit em on the screws…but ive played some cast irons that were pretty solid too. the new taylor made tour preferred and the ping s57’s are both cast but feel awesome and are workable.
but forged is still where it’s at.
