The Wimbledon Conundrum: Nadal’s Injury
Tennis June 9th. 2009, 4:30pm
The 2008 Wimbledon final between Nadal and Federer was nothing short of spectacular. It was Nadal’s first non-French Grand Slam win; it ended Federer’s five-year stranglehold on the tournament, and it lasted 4 hours and 48 minutes. Right now, Nadal’s hurt, and his status for Wimbledon later this month is uncertain. The question: This is Federer’s tournament, and a coronation if he won it (15 grand slams!) would be massive. An injured Nadal would make Federer a near-lock; but it also might sap some drama from the All England Club. Does any part of you kinda, sorta hope Nadal isn’t 100 percent?

Absolutely I do. Otherwise, it’s almost as boring as watching Tiger win a golf tournament by 7 strokes.

Why the hell would I want that?? Were you high when you wrote this? I want Nadal 110 fucking percent. I want a repeat of last years final. I don’t get why you would want him either injured or out of the tournament? Don’t you want better competition and a Nadal-Federer final that rivals last years?

No. Next.

Asking for Nadal to be less than 100% is preposterous.
It would be like asking for a certain snarling, ferocious, uber competitive forward/center to be hurt for the defending champs so the Lakers could win another championship. . .

I want all of Federer’s opponents to retire down 1-0 in the first set.
That. Would. Be. Awesome!

Fuck Nadal, Injury is a part of the game… Hell Serena been playing hurt the past 2 years and haven’t she won a couple of Grand Slams I think. Federer’s 19 Grand Slam FINALS appearances is one of the Most Ridiculous stats I’ve ever heard with the LEVEL of COMPETITION he has to face!!!
