Bill Simmons Has Erin Andrews On His Podcast, Internet Doesn’t Explode
1-liner, Bill Simmons, ESPN, Erin Andrews, Media Gossip/Musings June 12th. 2009, 9:30amBill Simmons and Erin Andrews: Are people cooling on Erin Andrews? Or just not that interested in podcasts? Or just too wrapped up in Raul Ibanez and the NBA Finals? Surprisingly, nary an email overnight about two of ESPN’s most popular names getting together on the BS Report. (Usually, within the first hour of anything Simmons does, his fans are passing along the link.) One blogger has transcribed the best stuff for your perusal. (The Arena)

The podcast didnt include any pictures.

Because you can’t look at Erin Andrews on a podcosts. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of anyone discuss anything she’s actually talked about.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:37 AM
what? are you insinuating that Erin Andrews is not interesting unless you can see her?
June 12th, 2009 at 9:39 AM
yes
June 12th, 2009 at 9:43 AM
she’s actually uninteresting sans pictures – and to top that, her voice is annoying as hell.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:45 AM
Anyone actually think she is pretty good at what she does? I mean obviously she is better to look at then hear talk if you had to pick one, but I actually think she is pretty good at the sideline gig.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:49 AM
Agreed. Not many better on the sidelines. And, I like listening to her on the radio. She makes salient points… I don’t always agree, but at least she discusses topics that make me listen.
/Or I listen to allow my mind to visualize her…

She may be good at “what she does”, but I think “what she does” is a useless job that nobody needs to do. I think she gets to do “what she does” because she’s as hot as a firecracker.
I don’t need to know what a college coach is thinking at halftime of a football game, nor do I need to know what a wheezy, hairy middle school girl is thinking after she blows a word in the spelling bee.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:53 AM
I just wasted five minutes of my work day reading that drivel.

I’ll go with that. At least she doesn’t stumble over her words like so many of them do.
In all fairness, I have never listened to Simmons’ podcasts. I will watch him when he is on PTI this summer. That ought to be interesting.

Another JackO? The last one with House and JackO is “in the BS Report pantheon.”
Where was Ronald Jenkees’ theme?
June 12th, 2009 at 9:56 AM
I don’t know how you can even understand her with Tebow’s dong crammed in there.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:57 AM
In all seriousness she is better for my HD tuner than that troll they have on the sidelines for the NBA Finals.
June 12th, 2009 at 9:57 AM
i like simmons and andrews, but i’m sick of ESPN’s self promotion. for godsake, stop interviewing your co-workers, don’t be like MSNBC!

Simmons on the Carolla podcast was pretty amusing. “Oh, I’m gonna get fired for saying jizz! Tee hee.”

Attractive women can also be successful. My mom has been wearing heels, skirts and dressing well for decades. She has been a full professor with tenure since she was 40.
You can argue the merits of sideline reporting, but Erin Andrews is professional and does it well. Yes, being attractive may have helped her get a job on television. ITS TELEVISION.
June 12th, 2009 at 10:03 AM
All I’ve learned from this post is that Duffy’s mom is obviously a cougar.
June 12th, 2009 at 10:17 AM
Wow… I don’t know what to say.
I was way to scared to say that.

Being the best sideline reporter is like being the best finger painter in preschool. Even the very best it can be done isn’t very different from the very worst.

Duffy, I’m not knocking her for being hot and on television. I don’t even mind that Doris Burke gets to have a sideline job. Or even Solomon Wilcots. It’s all the same to me. It is my opinion that a producer can get the same info from a team designated spokesman via commlink or telephone in games, and relay it to the 2/3 talking heads that are already paid to talk during the games I’m watching, and they can tell me whether a dude who came up limping is “questionable” to return.
It’s nice that a pretty girl does it, but unnecessary in my opinion.
/tell your mom i said what’s up

Fair enough, I think there are legit criticisms of sideline reporting. I just don’t think EA should be singled out for it, because she does do a professional job.
I think there are incidents where having a sideline reporter is helpful. The problem is that by having one, you feel compelled to use him or her when it is unnecessary.
June 12th, 2009 at 10:34 AM
Podcasts are stupid anyway. Only the diehards check those out. And like some have already said, with an EA picture or video, who cares?
June 12th, 2009 at 10:37 AM

I agree completely. I apologize if you feel like I’m singling Erin Andrews out. She gets singled out for her hotness, and she is getting interviewed by Simmons for her celebrity (and her Sox homerism).
True story, I don’t listen to sideline reporters at all (even EA). I barely listen to announcers. I fast forward over all that stuff.
/all hail DVR

you obviously have never seen Telly Hughes or Davey Nelson
/extremely high unintentional comedy’d

Yes TBL. She’s not as hot as you blog about her. Not even close. Every other next time you think of her, do us a favour. Replace what you were going to say with a photo of spicy chick with nice tits.
EA is one ring away from entering ninnie status a la Melissa Stark, and she is not fooling anyone. She is no Jillian Barberie minus her fat phase and with the mute button on.
