They’re Already Rolling Out ‘Best Moments in Sports Blogs History’ Lists
Blogging, ESPN June 17th. 2009, 5:00pm
Real Clear Sports polled sports bloggers (we participated) on what they thought were the 10 ‘Best Moments in Sports Blogs History.’ Not surprisingly, ESPN is featured prominently, either on TV or the radio.
Spots 2, 3, 4 and 6 all involve the WWL, and if you wanted to, you could include the recent Raul Ibanez dust-up.

I originally had a really mean comment written about the guy pictured above, then deleted it realizing that he is not worth my time or energy.

And I thought the mainstream media took themselves seriously.

The real number one should be FJM’s takedown of Shrutebag, 12 minutes of Hell with Colin Cowherd.

i would bone his producer
June 17th, 2009 at 5:15 PM
besides the TBL incident, what exactly turned you guys off to him?
June 17th, 2009 at 5:16 PM
This seems as good a place as any to be hyped about the fact that the 76ers are reverting back to their 1970s unis. Good stuff.

His “nerd” voice is classic. Only Conan pulls it off better and thats just because you can see him fix his glasses.

I’ll pick up the slack:
if anyone heard stern this morning, man did those guys put cowturd in his place. i guess they got hold of a tape of cowturd unloading on artie.
stern (to artie): who is colin cowherd?
artie: i dunno.
baba booey: he’s some guy from espn. never heard of him before.
AWESOME!!!
June 17th, 2009 at 5:18 PM
where do you start?
June 17th, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Apparently we have a bunch of Purdue Pete fans.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:19 PM
to this day i still can’t believe there were sober minds in a bristol conference room one day with some guy having the gall to suggest, “hey, there’s this guy in portland… he’s the perfect replacement for tony kornheiser.”
June 17th, 2009 at 5:21 PM
Just for fun, I googled “colin cowherd is a douche”
6,130 results. Fantastic.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:22 PM
the tbl incident isnt what made me hate cowherd. cowherd made me hate cowherd. however if it wasnt for cowherd i would have never heard of this site and im thinking a few other people on here could make that claim as well. so if anything this site should probably be thankful that cowherd fucked ‘em
June 17th, 2009 at 5:22 PM
Five minutes of his radio show. I bet if Bill Simmons had Cowherd and Dave Dameshek on his podcast, it would drive people to disturbing crimes.

i am one of those as well
June 17th, 2009 at 5:24 PM
I don’t like his face. He has that ’self entitled douchebag’ look that previously was primarily found on Phillip Rivers’ face.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:24 PM
Work computer? Well played sir.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:25 PM

Amy whatever on ESPN radio, hands down.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:32 PM
i swear i had a line on this post about bloggers taking themselves too seriously, but i didnt want it to come across as a jab at real clear sports (met the guys this weekend, they’re cool)
June 17th, 2009 at 5:32 PM
I would have went with The Artie Lange/Joe Buck Incident as #1-5 and #8.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:33 PM
I’d been here before, but I was more of a Deadspin guy. The rant sort of “legitimized” TBL in my mind and made it 1a. Just my 2 cents.
Personally, I’d say the day ESPN led its newscast with TMZ video of Shaq rapping about Kobe is pretty fricking huge. Not because TMZ is a sports blog, but because I don’t think that happens unless it sees the buzz bloggers were getting from showing pics of Matt Leinart, Tony Romo, and the like. It showed me that they were no “better” than the people they professed that they are better than.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:36 PM
skip bayless is worse. but yeah, i cannot stand listening to her.
/ that’s sexist
June 17th, 2009 at 5:46 PM
How about when SportsCenter featured our Kiper/McShay hair swap? That was a big step in ESPN’s acknowledgment of sports blogs.
This list is incomplete. And shitty.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:47 PM
RCS is very good It is, in fact what I originally came here for, sans SuperAndy’s dickweed obnoxiousness and the incessant pummeling of wornout internet memes
June 17th, 2009 at 5:49 PM
uhoh here comes every blogger saying . “what about when espn did (fill in the blank)”
June 17th, 2009 at 5:53 PM
Not really mrejer, it was a rather massive step in ESPN extending the olive branch to blogs.

+1 TBL Godfather
This is why he’s the Godfather. The whole Real Clear series of sites are great because they contain often articles of news that flies under the radar of the mainstream media outlet. Yes they are a cool bunch over there.
