The 9th season of The Ultimate Fighter comes to a close tomorrow night with the live-finale on SpikeTV. The theme for this season was Team USA vs. Team UK.  Only 1 of the 4 finalists on Saturday is American. In addition to the two fights that will determine who wins the 6-figure contracts, the headlining fight may determine who gets the next shot at the lightweight championship. If you missed the season and want to get caught up, Spike is running a marathon all day Saturday.

TUF Lightweight Finale: Ross Pearson (8-3) vs. Andre Winner (9-2-1)

This is what Dana White seemed like he didn’t want – an all-UK final. Pearson and Winner both defeated 2 good old American boys to advance to the finals. I don’t know much about either fighter except what I learned on the show – they both have accents.

TUF Welterweight Finale: DaMarques Johnson (9-6) vs. James Wilks (5-2)

Johnson was the lone American to win a fight that actually mattered and he even looked good a couple of times during the season. Johnson is a heavy favorite to defeat James Wilks. The Brit had the easiest path to the finals as he got to fight Frank Lester (Who doesn’t appear to much of a skill-set outside the weight room) twice. Johnson will probably kill Wilks. That’s my official pick.

Headliner: Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida

This is my pick for Fight of the Night. This is a matchup of two of the most exciting and tireless fighters in the UFC. The winner puts themself at the top of the heap in the lightweight division. Both fighters have won 3 straight. This will only be Sanchez’s second fight at 155 pounds. Win or lose, his girlfriend is former UFC Octagon Girl, Ali Sonoma.

The card will also include other fighters from season 9 of TUF. Lightweight semi-finalists Jason Dent and Cameron Dollar will meet in an all-USA alternate universe final. Frank Lester will fight Nick Osipczak who lost a battle to DaMarques Johnson in the semi-finals.

I previewed the rest of the fights at the new and beautiful Blood, Booze and Bruises.
