Lane Kiffin Likes ‘em Young, and with Good Genes
1-liner, College Football, Recruiting June 30th. 2009, 10:45amTennessee Vols: Lane Kiffin offered a scholarship to a 13-year-old who has yet to play a high school football game. This is no ordinary rising freshman, though – Evan Berry is the younger brother of UT star safety Eric Berry, who we’ve already projected as a top five pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Little Evan is projected as a safety or QB. Way to take the incentive off the table, Lane. [Go Vols]

Kiffin is such a clown
June 30th, 2009 at 10:55 AM
yea, but check out berry the younger in action.

/that’s a violationin’
Seriously, this is one of those worst kept secrets. The brother and the dad both played for the Vols. Next thing you know, a member of the Bruce and Clay Matthews family will commit to USC out of the womb.

Nice of Lane to start recruiting for whoever takes over for him in a couple of years.

Indeed, he better hope he can coach or he will go down as one of the most laughably awful and clueless head coaches in the HISTORY of college football.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:03 AM
i wonder what’ll happen once he actually, you know, coaches a game.
if the offseason has been this much fun, i can’t wait to see the leadup to the florida game.

/fixed
When Al Davis can still figure out you’re a classless douchebag………
June 30th, 2009 at 11:05 AM
I tell you what, if they’re bad, Florida, LSU and Alabama will try to score 100 on him.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Just check the Gainesville and Knoxville blotters.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:07 AM
All around awesome.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:12 AM
The guy hasn’t even coached a game yet, and he’s already the most hated, most piece of shit, do anything for an advantage coach in the SEC.
/and we’re talking about a conference that features:
*Nick Saban
*Urban Meyer
*Bobby Petrino
*Houston Nutt
*Les Miles
*Steve Spurrier

happened before. wake forest offered chris leak (the other UF QB to win a national title this decade) when he was in the 8th grade. his older brother was the starter at wake at the time until he got hurt and the coach got fired.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:13 AM
They’ve been trying that as of late. As if Urban has taken his foot off the gas vs. UT with Phil coaching. He punched in a late TD to up UF’s score to 59 two years ago.
As for the blotter, it’s been clean in Knoxville since Kiffin showed up. Amazingly, Kiffin hasn’t scored any points in the Fulmer Cup. Can’t say the same about the Urban choir boys.

Awesome pull Spence

This kid’s brother, Eric, is the best player in college football (yes, better than Tebow). Part of me wants the Falcons to plummet this year so they have a shot at him in the draft.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:20 AM
Kentucky and USC have done this in basketball
/of course, both coaches who did it are gone
//nice company, coach
June 30th, 2009 at 11:21 AM
nobody’s doubting eric berry here…dude is a fucking beast. even gators and dawgs give him credit he’s that good.
sucks he stuck in that quagmire of a program.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:23 AM
I cannot wait to see UT play this year. If they’re better than expected, just imagine how far Kiffin will push the envenlope. If they suck again, it will be awesome to see Kiffin’s post game interviews.
/Just over 2 months left.

gods…oh that kind of schadenfraude is quite amazing. last year’s rich rod escapades in ann arbor was a weekly treat and kiffin looks to have him trumped by a long shot.

Why I hate Kiffin
If you don’t care to read it: Jackson was claiming to be an LSU lock. He cancelled his announcement until the day after signing day. Supposedly, “his mom’s flight was delayed.” In reality, Kiffin told him to do it because LSU held on to the scholarship offer and lost it, and he didn’t want the other safeties he had signed to know he was coming, because they might get rightfully pissed that he had a 5-star at their position in his back pocket and didn’t tell them.
And there’s also the deal with Ed Orgeron getting Jackson’s dad a job at Miami of Ohio…..

Do you know how insufferable this kid is going to be in his high school classes?
June 30th, 2009 at 11:36 AM
spencer – Kiffin’s antics outdo your hatred for Rich God?
Also, I don’t like Urban Cryer at all but I will be rooting for him to hang one bill on Rocky Top this season.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
I have taught a guy who already had offers from SEC schools as a sophomore. Believe me, I know. He knew he was untouchable, and administrators let him rule the school.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:43 AM
of course not…i’ll always hate someone from michigan more.
then again, it’s hard to truly hate rich rod as he’s so grossly over his head that he doesn’t really stand a chance to begin with. i look on at kiffin with amusement because im an SEC outsider. im sure id detest him if i was an LSU, Florida or Georgia fan.

Why would he go to class, he’s a Tennessee recruit. The only classes he needs are Advance Firearms Training, Drug Running Basics, and Intro To Woman Beating.
