Video: Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett Does the Black Olympics, Featuring Fried Chicken, Kool-Aid, and Watermelon
Race, Video July 10th. 2009, 9:00amNot only does Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett fancy himself a rapper, but a comedian, also.
At what point does this clown become a liability? What line has to be crossed before Martellus Bennett’s talent – at 6-foot-6, 265-pounds, he’s an impressive physical specimen – no longer matters? Eventually, the Cowboys will ship this guy to a team where this sort of behavior will be encouraged, if not applauded. The circus in Oakland comes to mind. By then, Bennett will have either taken his stand-up or rap career on the road and become an All-Pro; everything that Master P wishes he could have been. And we’ll all get a chuckle out of the mistakes he made 22.
Might the ‘Black Olympics’ have worked if it had been done … in between the stand-up comedy routines of Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld at the Laugh Factory? Perhaps. We’ll set the over/under for a Jerry Jones comment at 12 pm EST. Will Bennett’s apology be as funny as the last one?

You know you’ve reached the bottom of the comedy well when you’re copying an idea from Ned Menstealia.

I see nothing wrong with this. just a few guys having some harmless, self-depracating fun with stereotypes.

I hope there’s no apology or any kind of big deal made of this. It’s pretty cool to see a pro athlete have some light-hearted fun like that.

Martellus Bennett, Vernon Davis, same difference. Ship ‘em to Oakland. Davis wouldn’t even have to buy new digs. Please, please let the Cowboys go 2-14 this season.

This guy should be a featured player for Dallas this year. Yeah, he’s a dumbass, but he’s big, fast, strong and can catch.
You can’t really think Jerry Jones cares about this. He may give it a little lip service, but Dallas is going to run a whole lot of 2 tight ends this year, probably quite a bit with Witten in the backfield as the world’s greatest chip blocker/safety valve.
Bennett is good at football.

Wow this does a lot to help the cause against racism …(sigh) …and people wonder why such episodes continue to recur to spark “media outrage.” Heck often I am more outraged by the faux media outrage than about the mere episode of racism.
