Agreed: Cutler’s WRs Stink
1-liner, NFL July 17th. 2009, 10:45amNFC North Trash Talk: Donald Driver of the Packers likes the Chicago Bears acquisition of Jay Cutler, likes their RB, Matt Forte, but he’s not confident they have WRs anybody should fear. “I think Chicago did a great job, and Lovie Smith went out there and got Jay Cutler to lead this team, but one thing they don’t have is they don’t have the receiver group. They have the running back, they have the offensive line and they have a great defense. But you’re going to have to need receivers to make plays down the field, and they don’t have that right now.” [Journal Sentinel]

He’s right about the running back part. The other two, not so much.

Not really “trash talk”, more like a statement of fact. And I’m a Bears homer.

It should also be pointed out that last year’s top 4 receivers for the Bears were a running back, a tight end, a cornerback, and another tight end.

Mo-der-ation?

I can’t name one true WR on their team.
However, Greg Olsen = fantasy sleeper

He so must have read our comments from the TO post yesterday

If there was one other team I would want to root for besides the Jets, its the Bears. Those are my favorite uniforms in all of sports.

Brandon Lloyd

Jay-Jay was barely touched last year, despite the fact that he holds the ball for Big Ben-esque lengths of time. If he does that in Chicago behind that sieve of a line, he won’t last 8 games.
Another interesting fact: Chicago actually scored more points under Orton than Denver did under Cutler, despite rushing for nearly an entire yard less per carry and allowing a bucketload more sacks. Hmm.

sometimes the most simplistic jerseys are the best looking jerseys. always liked the colts, bears, packers, and chiefs.

Wait, this is the year Mark Bradley breaks out, right?
(yes, I know he’s with the Chiefs)

Lloyd is actually in Denver now. I don’t expect him to last through training camp. He’s probably the 5th best WR on the roster.

But Gerard, JayJay throws the ball so hard, he just has to be good. I’m sure his apologists will use the crappy receivers as an excuse for him.
July 17th, 2009 at 11:22 AM
Just looked at the roster. Damn there’s gonna be a lot of WR’s at camp.

Jason Whitlock thinks so.

but cutler is so good he’ll make his receivers good, no matter what!

This is also the year Mark Clayton, DJ Hackett, Sidney Rice and Limas Sweed break out.
/draft bust’d

the kid iglesias should be good for them if he can get used to the cold. Good receiver, but did play in the B12.

Amazing how Mushin Muhammad became an actual NFL receiver again last year when he went back to Carolina. And that’s with a broken-down Jake Delhomme throwing him the football.

I will say this, my only hope as a Bears fan is that Earl Bennett somehow has a good year. He and Cutler played at Vandy, so, there’s hope.

Willie Gault is still alive, right?
