Louts: Philadelphia Phillies Fans
1-liner, Baseball, Death, Fans July 28th. 2009, 4:45pmPhillies Fans Remain an Embarrassment: “You know the highlights: booing Santa, cheering Michael Irvin’s apparent paralysis, a stadium that required its own courtroom to handle the volume of arrests for drunken hooliganism. You can’t help but know them, because they are recited like a litany every time some national broadcaster or journalist or blogger wants to take an easy shot at Philadelphia and its sports fans. Two incidents Saturday reinforce the city’s national image and raise, for roughly the billionth time, the question of why Philadelphia seems to be the epicenter of horrific fan behavior.” The first was a fight outside of the stadium in which three animals jumped and killed a 22-year-old; the 2nd was the laser pointer incident. How will bombastic radio host Mike Missanelli – a hater of bloggers – defend this one? [Inquirer]

Philly aside, I hope those three fuckups get plowed by Adebisi on a daily basis for the rest of their lives.

I often wonder why Philadelphia gets the focus, the fan behavior can be poor but no worse than fans in other large cities. For example, I’ve been to numerous events in New York and Philadelphia and see no difference in fan behavior.
The only difference I see is in media coverage – Philly sports writers and talk show hosts love to bring up the reputation angle.

With regards to the idiot killers…I would use the term “Phillies fans” loosely. To wit, they were in McFadden’s, and apparently a couple of them didn’t even have tickets to the game. And one of the three killers, the older gent, was apparently wearing a Yankees hat at the time of the murder. No, I’m not making any connection there to Yankees fans, I’m just pointing out that these three wastes of space likely could care less about what was going on on the field.

And one other point I wanted to make…there has been a murder at both an Angels and a Dodgers games this season as well…yet you don’t hear anything about those “crazy L.A. fans.”

If you are at a Dodgers game from the first inning to the ninth you are in fact a “crazy LA fan”. Furthermore you are unemployed.

First off we need to start putting the words “World Champion” before the words Phillies fan. Also lets list some “Embarrassing” things Phillies fans have done the past year.
1. Have one of the highest attended parades in championship history
2. Buy more championship apparel than any other mlb team ever
3. On pace for over 3.5 million home attendance
4. Have louder fans at away games than the home team does
5. Have not done anything the quarterback for the steelers is being sued for

I’m assuming this guy was sucker punched, went down, and then was stomped to death. Stomping and kick a guy on the ground is for pussies, kids, and fake thugs. Stand up and fight like a man.
Give me a round with these guidos and white trashers.
Sadly this could happen to anyone. Spilled drinks. People with nothing to live for trying to start something. That’s why you always gotta walk away. Or at least train yourself in hand to hand combat.
And I’ve been to every east coast ballpark (out to Cleveland). Philly probably has the most degenerates (like these three guys). DC was definitely the calmest crowd. The Red Sox bleachers is probably behind second, and the Yankees bleachers (not in the new stadium, as everyone’s gawking at the shiny things) would be third.

One of the accused was on probation for beating up a patron outside a bar a few months earlier.

He’s been complaining all day that this isn’t the work of “fans”. Just a bar fight which could have happened anywhere. (the 3 accused attended the game because they were part of a bus trip with their neighborhood bar. which begs to question, wouldn’t they be considered fans?)

Yesterday, your BFF, Cowherd, blamed the incident on Philadelphia’s “low college matriculation rate”. Seriously. No, really; he did. I’m not kidding. WTF?
July 28th, 2009 at 5:37 PM
Yes, but 2 of the 3 didnt even have tickets to the game, they just went straight to McFadden’s.

Easy, YYSA. You don’t want Philip getting pissed off and stomping you to death over mean comments. He’s a real man, he’ll do it. Philly, yo.

Because the Cubs and Phillies were playing in Philadelphia?

1. attendance at championship rally/parade- irrelevant to the current story
2. there’s a team in NY(not named thev Mets) that would argue that point. Also irrelevant to current story.
3. large attendance does not neccesarily equal unbridled devotion to a team. Every year, successful teams acquire bandwagon fans that will jump ship as soon as they lose interest. Also irrelevant to current story.
4. This was not a road game, thus making your statement null and void.
5. I find it hard that no one in Philadelphia, including the occasional Phillies fan, has never been accused of the same crime. Also, irrelevant to current story.

Quick informal poll for everyone.
Which Type Of Philly Fan Is More Annoying?
1. The kind that defends mass violence as a badge of blue-collar don’t-fuck-wit-us team/city/regional identity
-OR-
2. The kind that denies Philly fans are worse than anyone else?
You decide!

So i assume all of you blame all the fans in Omaha and not the individual for the erin andrews thing?
