The Warriors drafted Marco Belinelli in the 1st round two years ago, and Don Nelson kept him chained to the doghouse as a rookie. Last season, he was brilliant in December, scoring 15 or more points six times before injuring his ankle and missing some time. Guess with the crowded backcourt of Steph Curry, Anthony Morrow, Monta Ellis, and Kelenna Azubuike, the team thought Belinelli was expendable. But to get Devean George in return? Just because he’s an expiring contract? No way he sniffs the court, not with Stack Jack and Maggette healthy. Meanwhile, Toronto’s quietly had a productive offseason. Guess who’s running the show there? Bryan Colangelo, who is mostly responsible for that strong Suns team this decade. Technically Belinelli was an expiring contract too (team option after this season), but George’s contract is going to be fully paid for by the Raptors. They have about 9 mil in expiring contracts between Law, Claxton and George, so maybe they can make a move during the season.

Raptors can’t lose with this. George was destined for a season on the inactive list so they gave up nothing in exchange for a guy with some potential. They’re paying the bill for George but money is not a big issue when you’re owned by the MLSE monster.

Lots of if’s to make it a productive offseason for Toronto… More likely: when Hedo has shown he has lost it (in maybe 2 years w/ 30 mil remaining), when Bosh leaves…. nothing else matters.

I think Jack is a solid back-up PG and is huge upgrade over the combo of Will Solomon/Roko Ukic that we suffered through last year.
The idea that Jack was brought in to convince Bosh to stay is something that the columnists around here dreamed up.
I think the only way to convince Bosh to stay is by making it to, at least, the second round of the playoffs this year. He needs to believe there is a chance to win here. Combine that with the fact that he can make the most money by staying, both from a salary perspective and an endoresement perspective, and you have a pretty convincing pro-Toronto arguement.

Great deal for Toronto, even if he plays 12 minutes a night, because Devean George sucks beyond measure.
