Reggie Jackson Should Update His Blog in Light of the Manny and Ortiz Developments
1-liner, Baseball, Steroids August 3rd. 2009, 4:00pmJose Canseco’s Claim: Friday, we looked at all the Hall of Fame players in the steroid era after Jose Canseco claimed that there’s a HOFer who juiced. A couple of guys from that list played with Jose Canseco. One of them was Reggie Jackson (1987). Here’s what Reggie said about roids after A-Rod was busted in February: “I do think its important to know who uses, and used them … How do we separate the honorable players that have played in the same era and don’t deserve to be connected to the cloud of ugliness that hangs over the era? When I hear about one of our most gifted players as I did a short time ago, I literally weep inside.” [Reggie Jackson via Ty Duffy)

Down the toilet goes my credibility, but, here goes…
I’m going to agree with *gulp* Joe Morgan on one thing. Yesterday on the Sunday Night Baseball telecast he mentioned that the MLBPA has done a horrible job at protecting the innocent people because now everyone is under suspicion.
At first, they protected the users by not testing. Now, with testing having commenced, they are allowing people like us to make blanket statements about suspicion of use. Anyone that played with an identified user now garners reasonable doubt.
My question now becomes, does this whole mess turn into 1994 again? Are we on the brink of a lockout because the two associations, owners and players, failed to protect the guys that actually play the game?

on MMA sorry for jack but I hadn’t seen this discussed. reprimand if necessary.
“Fedor is a f—ing joke,” UFC President Dana White responded Monday after learning that Emelianenko had signed with Strikeforce. “He turns down a huge deal and the opportunity to face the best in the world to fight nobodies for no money!”

Hey Dana? Ever want to have the Russian mob kill you? maybe THAT’S why Fedor hasn’t signed w/ UFC. Dana White needs to be put down.

@ herdatious: Saw that. Not surprised. Apparently Fedor and his people wanted White to make K-1 full partners in UFC for Fedor’s signature.
What kind of businessman would do that?
Signing with Strikeforce was arguably his only real option. With Affliction gone, the number of competitors to UFC is dwindling and fast. White can afford to just sit and wait on Fedor to begin losing money before he asks to sign.
As for Reggie…the players were for testing. Their union leaders were against it. Now it’s too late.

Canseco said he didn’t know anyone specific and he wasn’t implicating Rickey.

I literally weep inside.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

when I read his quote, I instantly thought he was talking about Rickey

I was going to ask, what does it mean to literally weep inside? Internal hemorrhaging?
