The Captivating Story of Aroldis Chapman
1-liner, Baseball, ESPN August 6th. 2009, 3:30pm
Aroldis Chapman: Eat your heart out, Stephen Strasburg. Aroldis Chapman is a 21-year-old lefty with a fastball that has been clocked at 102 mph. On July 1, he defected from Cuba while his team was playing in the Netherlands. “I walked out easily, right through the hotel door, and I hopped into a car and left,” he told cubaencuentro.com at the time. “It was easy. Now the plan is to sign with a major league team.” Currently, he’s hiding out in Europe. ESPN found him, and he’s talking for the first time. (View some of Chapman’s filthiness here.) Familiarize yourself with his work now; he’s going to be the most coveted free agent this winter – well, at least for the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Cubs, and Angels. [Sunday, Outside the Lines, ESPN PR]

Eh.
August 6th, 2009 at 3:46 PM
if Kevin Durant is successful in the NBA, than nobody in the league should feel the need to use PED’s.
August 6th, 2009 at 3:47 PM
The NBA has a steroid policy?
/completely serious
//couldn’t care less about the NBA
August 6th, 2009 at 3:49 PM
That video is sick. But I’ve heard rumblings the kid is actually 26 years old. Who knows with the Cubans, I guess.

There should be an international draft in baseball.
August 6th, 2009 at 3:51 PM
why did he stop using roids during the finals?
August 6th, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Orlando Magic are cheaters

i know that a cohiba is a damn fine, but strong, smoke.
/all i know about cuba
//except for the cuban restaurant in my office…where i get a chicken tender wrap and fries…i didn’t know that was a cuban dish
August 6th, 2009 at 3:58 PM
eh, the rashard lewis story seems like not much of a big deal. it’s hard to get worked up for guys “cheating” with something available over-the-counter. if it’s available to everyone legally i don’t really see the big deal
August 6th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
if one player cheats, it brings down the whole team. facts of life man. deal with it.
August 6th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
At that point, it just becomes the standard “lack of awareness” story. The body is the athlete’s occupation, gotta know what you’re putting in it.
August 6th, 2009 at 4:01 PM
doesn’t matter. one person makes a whole team, or championship, dirty if you had been following the PED’s stories on the site lately.

Why do you have to be a fucking cock all the time?
August 6th, 2009 at 4:02 PM
Yes, over the counter pills are the same as illegal steroids in my book…
August 6th, 2009 at 4:07 PM
Half the time. remember how much you were liking me when i was pimping the magic in the playoffs. come on.
August 6th, 2009 at 4:10 PM

completely agree that as long as it is illegal by league rules you have to know everything you put in your body. take it to the team nutritionist, hire one, whatever. and he should be punished according to the rules, which he knew of and violated, i just draw a big line between over the counter supplements and things bought in a back alley

Wrong. You take the good. You take the bad. You take them both, and there you have, the facts of life.

irish- no worries. i get it. i am a yank fan. not fun to hear about guys you watch and enjoy doing things like this. however, i don’t think lewis’ infraction is a big deal. however, that won’t matter to opposing fans.
