Ordinarily this isn’t the sort of sporting event that would capture our attention, not with MLB pennant races heating up, Reggie Miller sexting with an engaged chick, and football rapidly approaching. And then the reader mentioned the name of one of the contestants: Cagla Kubat, who has an engineering degree, represented Turkey in the Miss Universe contest in 2002, a TV star, and model.

If windsurfing had been made into an Olympic sport, Kubat, who turns 30 in November, would have definitely made all those lists that were topped by volleyball players, swimmers, soccer players, and Leryn Franco.
